Abstract: PURPOSE: A method for a customized service of the MPEG(Moving Picture Experts Group)-4 based 3D(Dimensional) mesh contents is provided to selectively offer the multimedia contents preferred by a user and offer many information for the contents by applying the 3D contents on a personal terminal. CONSTITUTION: The preferred metadata(10) and the contents metadata(20) are fixed. The preferred metadata and the contents metadata are generated in an XML(eXtensible Markup Language) form and are stored in a metadata server(60) and a contents metadata server(70). An intelligent metadata matching server(50) searches/compares the metadata representing the user preference data and the metadata representing the contents from the metadata servers. The contents fit to user's preference are provided to a contents server(90) based on a search/comparing result. The contents are played on a platform equipped with a JVM(Java Virtual Machine), a Java application, and the Java 3D(80).
