    Abstract: PURPOSE: Provided is an anti-fouling photobioreactor which characteristically injects solid particles into culture broth to transmit light thereinto well and to transfer material to phototrophs in the culture broth well, thereby culturing the phototrophs economically and rapidly. CONSTITUTION: The anti-fouling photobioreactor is characterized by comprising a chamber with a transparent inner tube and a flow generating unit to allow culture broth to flow through the inner tube, wherein solid particles flow together with the culture broth through the inner tube.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: A method for treating dye wastewater using granular activated carbon (GAC) as media, in which non-biodegradable materials that induce colors in dye wastewater are adsorbed in pore of GAC, and then decomposed by attach-growth anaerobic bacteria. CONSTITUTION: The method includes: (i) adjusting pH of dye wastewater to the range of 6.5-10.5 in a tank(20) for pretreatment; (ii) removing organics of dye wastewater in a primary anaerobic tank(30); (iii) removing organics and color-inducing materials in a secondary anaerobic tank(50) where granular activated carbon(55) is packed; and (iv) removing organic residue additionally in an aerobic tank(60). Granular activated carbon with a diameter larger than 1mm is employed in the method.
