Abstract: PURPOSE: A boiler for solid fuels and a method to combust solid fuels using the same are provided to completely combust the solid fuel and to check the amount of the solid fuel piled in a burner container because the initial ignition is proceeded after confirming whether or not the adequate amount of the solid fuel is supplied. CONSTITUTION: A boiler for solid fuels comprises a combustion chamber (110), a burner container, a solid fuel supply unit (200), a fuel ignition unit (130), and a control unit. The solid fuel supply unit supplies the solid fuel to a combustion space. The fuel ignition unit ignites the solid fuel piled in the combustion space. The control unit senses the amount of the solid fuel piled in the combustion space. The control unit controls the solid fuel supply unit and the fuel ignition unit to ignite the solid fuel after the solid fuel is piled to the predetermined amount in the combustion space.
