Abstract: PURPOSE: A system for authenticating a user using fingerprint information and a method thereof are provided to authenticate a user with a high security using an authentication server and with accuracy using a personal device such as a smart card. CONSTITUTION: A fingerprint input unit(110) receives fingerprint information of a user. A feature point extracting unit(120) extracts a feature point of a fingerprint using the user fingerprint information. An accumulation table constituting unit(130) constitutes an accumulation table using the feature point extracted in the feature point extracting unit(120) and transmits the accumulation table through a network(200). An accumulation table matching unit(330) compares accumulation table information with respect to fingerprint information of a user constituted in the accumulation table constituting unit(130) transmitted through the network(200) with a feature point accumulation table with respect to a pre-stored fingerprint of the user, analyzes the matching, and executes a user authentication.
