Abstract: A character input method in a mobile multimedia device is provided to lower character complexity while a user can input an abbreviated character which displays words as one character and it is unnecessary to use an external input device, therefore inputting speed is improved while portability can be easily realized. When it is determined that user-defined quick writing characters are defined through a user interface, an inputted user-defined quick writing character is analyzed(S300~S304). If a general character is inputted through the user interface, the analyzed quick writing character and the general character are stored in a DB(S306,S308). If a random user quick writing character is inputted through the user interface, the inputted quick writing character is recognized, and a general character corresponding to the recognized character is extracted(S310~S314).

Abstract: An apparatus for generating a standard user profile and a method thereof are provided to protect illegal usage of personal information unnecessarily collected via a structure and a generation procedure of a standard user profile. An apparatus for generating a standard user profile comprises a user interface unit(202), a personal analysis unit(204), a standard user profile generator(206), a control unit(208) and a data manager(209). The personal analysis unit generates standard user information expressing a user inclination by extracting specific code information matched with personal information from a generated user profile and standardizing the personal information. The standard user profile generator generates the standard user profile by eliminating the personal information from the user profile and adding the standard user information to the user profile. The control unit controls each component of a standard user profile generating device, and extracts a created standard user profile and provides the profile to a service providing device when the service providing device requests the profile. The data manager stores at least one among prestored specific code information, the generated user profile, the standard user profile and the standard user information, and sends the stored information to a corresponding unit if there is a data request signal.

Abstract: PURPOSE: A method for dynamically setting IPC(Inter-Processor Communication) path information in an ATM exchange is provided to dynamically set the IPC path information, thereby setting necessary information when activating individual processors and device controllers and changing the IPC path information if forms of the processors or the device controllers are changed. Abstract: PURPOSE: A method for collectively restarting processors by the request of an operator in an ATM(Asynchronous Transfer Mode) exchange is provided to prevent the occurrence of data or software inconsistency between each processor. CONSTITUTION: An operation and maintenance processor receives a collective processor restarting request by an operator(211) and checks the state of all processors and whether processors under being restored exist(212,213). If processors under being restored exist, the impossibility of restarting is notified to the operator(214).
