Abstract: PURPOSE:To prevent the wear of a cylinder used for data read/write by moving a head to a prescribed cylinder position while a disk device is not used for a series of data access. CONSTITUTION:A timer 331 counts the absent state of seek after the head seek for a prescribed time. The head seek is caused by a signal SEEK or a signal INIT from a CPU 1, the timer 331 is reset at each occasion and started for the count again. Since a series of disk access is applied in general periodically, when the time of the timer 331 is over, the CPU 1 does not use the disk device for the purpose of the data access. Then a time-out signal TO of the timer 331 energizes a set switch circuit 332 and new seek is generated automatically depending on the set content of the set switch circuit 332. Thus, the head is in standby at a prescribed cylinder without any intervention of the CPU 1.

A collective print/successive print mode register, a cursor address, a print start mark address, and a printing flag are provided in the work area. Said print start code is stored in the storage device 2b and is displayed on the display device 2e to inform an operator of the next print start. A cursor is not moved before the print start mark during successive printing.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To attain simplicity of operation and to decrease the processing time by designing the titled unit that an unconverted character string where a cursor representing the range of character to be converted exists is converted in the lump up to the non-conversion character once through the input of one conversion command key. CONSTITUTION:A register CPA is incremented sequentially by '1' so as to discriminate whether a character represented by the register CPA is an unselected character or to thereby deciding the range of character converted in the lump. For example, a modified byte when the cursor register CPA exists at the location of, e.g., an address 71 is 01 h, the register CPA is incremented by '1' and an address 72 has a value represented by the register CPA. Since the modified byte in this case is 01 h, the similar processing is repeated. When the register CPA represents a character 'o' of an address 75, since the modified byte is 00 h, which represents a non-converted character, the level goes to logical '0'. Then Kana(Japanese syllabary)-Kanji(Chinese character) conversion is processed once from the character represented by the register CPA to a character before the character represented by the register CPA.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To shorten the reading time by increasing the scanning speed of a detecting means when a prescribed reading object does not exist so as to quicken the scanning at spaces. CONSTITUTION:A CPU15 transmits a signal to a control circuit 6 for high speed searching in order to rotate a reading sensor 1 and a light source at the start of scanning. When a signal representing the existence of the reading object is transmitted from a signal processing circuit 14, the angle of rotation of the reading sensor 1 and the light source is restored to the angle of rotation of the normal reading speed, the moving speed of a carriage is restored to the normal value so as to start the reading. If the signal representing the existence of the reading object is not transmitted to the signal processing circuit 14, the carriage speed remains high and the high speed searching is continued.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform a discharge timing control which can properly follow the speed variation of a recording head. SOLUTION: A pre-scanning of the recording head is performed prior to a recording. The cycle of a signal which is output by an encoder during the scanning is sampled by a clock signal, and the counting values nT and nT+1 are stored in a memory in order. Then, at the time of an actual recording, the counting value is read, and based on a cycle indicated by the counting value, a cycle for a plurality of discharges is determined. Thus, in a case wherein a scanning at the time of the recording is performed under the same condition as the time of the pre-scanning, the discharge can be performed by a timing which properly follows the speed variation of the recording head.
