    Abstract: A substrate is formed for use of an ink jet recording head provided with a plurality of heat generating members for generating thermal energy to be utilized for discharging ink, an interlayer film arranged for the lower layer of each of said heat generating members, and a protection layer for protecting said heat generating member. Each of the heat generating members of the substrate is structured by metal and insulator, and at the same time, the rate of metal content in the vicinity of the interfaces of the heat generating member becomes smaller than that in the center of the heat generating member in the film thickness direction thereof. With the structure of such member thus arranged, it is made possible to prevent or suppress interlayer peelings and cracks from taking place in each of the heat generating resistive layers where temperature changes are made intensely due to thermal cycle.

With the structure thus arranged, the heat generating members make it possible to maintain the change of resistance values within a small amount even when used continuously for a long time, and provide recorded images in high quality with long life and reliability.

    Abstract: A recording head comprises a plurality of recording elements for performing recording; a driving circuit for driving the plurality of recording elements; and a predetermined voltage generating circuit for generating a predetermined voltage to be applied to the plurality of recording elements from voltage supplied from outside. With the head thus structured, a desired voltage is generated in the interior of the head by use of the predetermined voltage generating circuit for performing recording, thus making it possible to prevent the voltage drop which may take place if the voltage is supplied from outside through a cable, as well as to prevent the durability of the heat generating elements from being damaged due to noises. It also becomes possible to set the voltage to be applied to the recording elements at an optimal value corresponding to the discharge voltage, hence stabilizing ink discharges efficiently.

    Abstract: A substrate for use of an ink jet head that constitutes an ink jet head comprises a plurality of discharge ports for discharging liquid, a plurality of liquid flow paths communicated with the plurality of discharge ports, and first and second heat generating means arranged serially in the liquid flow paths in the flow path direction of the liquid flow paths for generating thermal energy which is utilized for discharging liquid in the liquid flow paths from the discharge ports, the first and second heat generating means being formed on the substrate. For this substrate, the first and second heat generating means are driven at driving frequencies of 4 kHz or more, and the first heat generating means are arranged in parallel in the direction perpendicular to the flow path direction of the liquid flow paths, and at the same time, structured with a plurality of heat generating resistive members electrically connected in series, and the second heat generating means is structured with at least one heat generating resistive member. With the structure thus arranged, this substrate makes it possible not only to stabilize liquid discharges even for the execution of a multi-valued recording, but also, provide the heat generating resistive members and liquid flow paths in higher densities.

    Abstract: The present invention provides a method for manufacturing a liquid discharge head comprising a top plate including a plurality of ink discharge ports for discharging ink droplet, a plurality of first liquid passages for supplying ink in correspondence to the plurality of ink discharge ports and a common liquid chamber for supplying the ink to the first liquid passages, a liquid discharge head substrate obtained by forming second liquid passages arranged adjacent to the first liquid passages and including bubble generating areas on a substrate on which a plurality of heat generating elements for causing the ink discharge port to discharge the ink droplets and including drivers for driving the heat generating elements, and a movable diaphragm for completely isolating the first liquid passages and the second liquid passages from each other and displaceable by a bubble generated on the heat generating element, wherein the method comprises a movable diaphragm forming step for providing the movable diaphragm in such a manner that a portion for fixing the movable diaphragm is covered. The present invention further provides such a liquid discharge head and a liquid discharging apparatus having such a liquid discharge head.
