In addition, CPU 13 takes up the branch signals of signals /PRINT, /VSYNC, /PDLV, /SPCHG, /PFED of the video interface between the video controller 9 and an engine controller 8 to determine paper supply- discharge timing.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To prevent a wasteful power consumption by a method wherein a means for controlling the power supply timing to respective driving systems related to a series of printing processes on the basis of the distribution of dots of detected image and the like are provided. CONSTITUTION:When one paginal printing data are stored, an inputting and expansion control section 103 reads printing data in regular order out of a page memory 102 and, at the same time, analyzes them so as to form bit map data with reference to a font ROM 104 and the like. The formed bit mat data are expanded and stored. The power source control section of a printing I/F section is a section for ON-OFF controlling the power source of the printing I/F section, which is indicated by surrounding with dotted line, and is normally turned OFF for economizing in electric power when no printing is performed. Accordingly, even under the stand-by condition of printing data sending from an external device, the power source of the printing I/F section is turned OFF. When ready signal 122 is OFF, the power source of the printing I/F section is kept to be OFF. When the signal 122 is ON, the inputting and expansion control section 103 turns signal 123 ON.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To confirm the generation of error or the condition of the printer on the side of an external equipment by receiving printing data from the external equipment in the form of codes, expanding these data into printing image data and transmitting this image to the external equipment. In this case, when a request command for returning the expanded data is added to the inputted document data, the main control part 17 returns the dot data stored in the memory 14 to the host computer without sending any recording start signal. The host computer converts the resolution of the dot image and displays the returned printing image. When a printing starting command is inputted after confirming there is no problem in this display content, the main control part 17 outputs a printing starting instruction to a recording part interface 15.

As a result, image quality in enlarged printing will be improved without enlarging processing by using a contracted data after an image data is contracted as in a conventional enlarging printing.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To perform high resolution printing by forming a pixel image data according to the capacity of a storage area by a method wherein the storage capacity storing the pixel image data is calculated, resolution is specified according thereto, and an image data is formed following this resolution to perform printing. CONSTITUTION:If total capacity of a RAM is fixed, it is made a fixed value and when variable, total capacity is obtained. Then, capacity capable of being used as an image memory 6 is calculated. Thereafter, resolution of an output image is made 400 pixel per 1 inch or 800 pixel per 1 inch according to whether the capacity of the image memory 6 is, for instance, 7.4MB max. or min. from required memory capacity. Then, the pixel image to the image data inputted from an input part 3 is formed following the determined resolution and plotting is performed in the image memory 6. A selective control signal 205 selecting an output 203 of a smoothing circuit 202 for 400 pixel resolution and an input pixel image 201 for 800 pixel resolution is outputted, and a pixel image data 206 is outputted to a printing mechanism part 8 to be printed.
