Abstract:
An oral composition and method for use thereof, comprising in an orally acceptable vehicle, an effective antiplaque amount of a noncationic antibacterial agent, and an anionic copolymer formed from monomers of which about 40 to about 90 % by weight are hydrophilic type capable of attachment to oral surfaces and about 10 to about 60 % by weight are of a hydrophobic type; such oral composition being effective in increasing the uptake of the antibacterial compound to dental tissue so as to enhance the therapeutic efficacy of the administered antibacterial compound.
Abstract:
A dual component dentifrice composition in which the first component is a stable, semi-solid, extrudable dentifrice composition containing a fluoride ion releasable compound in which calcium ion is absent and the second component is a semi-solid, extrudable dentifrice composition containing a dicalcium phosphate abrasive having a magnesium ion content less than about 0.5 % by weight wherein increased fluoride uptake is achieved when the components are mixed upon application to dental tissue.
Abstract:
The object of the present invention is to provide safe products for bleaching teeth. Oral compositions comprising at least one oxidoreductase fulfil said criteria without the presence of peroxide or with only very little peroxide present. The invention also relates to an oral care product comprising the oral composition of the invention, a method of bleaching teeth, a method for using said oral care products and the use of oxidoreductases for oxidation of teeth stains.
Abstract:
Methods and oral compositions for reducing one or more of plaque, tartar, caries, dentinal sensitivity, malodor, and/or inflammation are provided. The composition comprise an active ingredient that comprises a zinc salt.
Abstract:
An oral care composition, such as a dentifrice composition, which provides enhanced anti-gingivitis efficacy is disclosed. The composition includes a tocopherol component which consists of about 10% to about 90% of gamma tocopherol, with the balance of the components selected from alpha tocopherol, beta tocopherol, delta tocopherol, and mixtures thereof.
Abstract:
Methods and oral compositions for reducing one or more of plaque, tartar/ caries, dentinal sensitivity, malodor, and/ or inflammation are provided. The composition comprise an active ingredient that comprises a zinc salt.
Abstract:
The invention is directed to an oral composition that contains an amphoteric surfactant and an homo- or copolymer comprising an ethylenic monomer and related methods. The ethylenic monomer includes a phosphonate group. The monomer may be represented by the structure of Formula (I), wherein one of A and A' is a hydrogen atom and the other is selected from a hydrogen atom or a group -(X)nRm; wherein n is i\selected from 0 or 1; provided that when n is 0, m is 1, and when n is 1, m is an integer of 1 to 3; X is selected from an oxygen atom, a sulfur atom, a nitrogen atom, a phosphorous atom, and silicon atom; R is independently a hyuderogen atom or an arganic radical; L is selected from a bond and a linking group; M and M' are independently selected from a hydrogen atom, an alkali metal, and an ammonium ion, or together form an alkaline earth metal or other divalent element; and p is 1 or 2, provided that when L is a bond, p is 1.
Abstract:
Oral care compositions containing: a free-B-ring flavonoid and a flavan; as well as at least one bioavailability-enhancing agent are provided. Methods of using the oral compositions are also provided.
Abstract:
A confectionery composition delivering antiplaque agents to the oral cavity when applied thereto, the composition being comprised of a homogeneous mixture of a solid base material and an antibacterial ester having the formula (I); wherein R is an alkyl chain of 1 to 8 carbon atoms and R1 is an alkyl chain of 6 to 30 carbon atoms and X is an anion.
Abstract:
An antibacterial combination of a nonionic halogenated diphenyl ether compound such as Triclosan and hydrogenated lupulone, the combination being particularly effective in inhibiting the growth of gram-positive bacteria and in the preparation of antiplaque oral compositions.
