Abstract: A redundant star network is disclosed. The network includes a peripheral device (PD), a control hub, and a backup hub. The control hub and backup hub each have a wireless long range transceiver, hardware processors, and hardware memory. The PD includes a wireless long range transceiver and a microcontroller. The control hub and backup hub hardware memories store system operation information. The system operation information includes instructions for controlling the PD. The PD microcontroller includes test firmware and update firmware. The test firmware instructs the PD to test the control hub and to listen for a test response signal indicating the control hub is operational. The PD update firmware instructs the PD to switch control of the PD to the backup hub when the test response signal is not received within an expected response timeframe after the test signal is sent.

Abstract: A dual modulation network is disclosed. The dual modulation network includes a primary network hub (PNH) having a PNH Long range transceiver and a PNH microcontroller. The PNH microcontroller has communication firmware for long range spread spectrum (SS) and narrowband frequency shift keying (FSK) signal communication via the PNH Long range transceiver, and includes a PNH clock signal. The dual modulation network also includes a peripheral device (PD). The PD includes an actuation mechanism, a PD Long range transceiver, and a PD microcontroller. The PD microcontroller has actuation firmware, communication firmware for communication via the PD Long range transceiver, and location firmware, and includes a clock signal. The location firmware instructs the PD long range transceiver to transmit a location signal encoded with a PD transmit time stamp notifying a receiving device of the time the PD transmitted the location signal.

Abstract: A winch mechanism is described that includes a motor, a drum mechanism, a winch line, and a hammer and anvil mechanism. The drum mechanism is connected to the motor, and the winch line is connected to the drum. The hammer and anvil mechanism is connected to the motor and the drum mechanism within the drum mechanism. The motor activates the hammer and anvil mechanism, and the hammer and anvil mechanism applies a percussive force to the drum mechanism as the drum winds up the winch line. In an alternative embodiment, the hammer and anvil mechanism is disposed around at least a portion of the drum mechanism.

Abstract: Embodiments of a cable-winding apparatus are described herein. The apparatus may include one or more of a securing surface, a cable-winding channel, a coil spring, and a ratchet mechanism. The cable-winding channel may be rotatably connected to the securing surface. The channel may include a base and two or more walls extending at least partially perpendicularly from the base along opposite sides of the base. The ratchet mechanism may include one or more of a first face gear and a second face gear. The first and second face gears may each include a plurality of ratchet teeth. The spring may force the channel away from the securing surface. The ratchet teeth may prevent rotation of the channel with respect to the securing surface in a first direction while permitting rotation of the channel with respect to the securing surface in a second direction opposite the first direction.

Abstract: A microwave oven is disclosed herein that includes a cooking cavity and a magnetron. The magnetron includes a body portion having an anode, a cathode, one or more magnets, and an antenna extending from the body. The antenna directs microwaves generated by the body to the cooking cavity. The magnetron is movably coupled to a housing surrounding the cooking cavity and the magnetron. For example, in one embodiment, the magnetron oscillates along three perpendicular dimensions of mobility.

Abstract: Embodiments of motorized window coverings are described herein that may include a covering portion, a top portion, a bottom portion, and wiring. The top portion may comprise a deploying mechanism and a motor. The deploying portion may deploy the covering portion, and the covering portion may be directly connected to the deploying mechanism. The motor may operate the deploying mechanism. The bottom portion may be directly connected to the covering portion at an opposite end of the motorized window covering from the top portion. One or more batteries may be integrated into the covering portion. The batteries may power the motor. Wiring may be disposed in the covering portion. The wiring may electrically couple the motor to the one or more batteries. In some embodiments, the motorized window covering may include a roller shade and/or a venetian blind.

Additionally, the windshield support arm holds a windshield to the vehicle, the side view mirror support arm holds a side view mirror to the vehicle, and the fixing plate secures the body panel to the frame.

Abstract: Various embodiments of a flexible, roll-up wall are described herein. The wall includes a roller drum having a selectively engageable one-way bearing, one or more power supplies, a motor, a flexible, sound-attenuating sheet, an electromagnet and at least one of a corresponding permanent magnet or ferromagnet, one or more conductive threads, a force meter, and a potentiometer. The motor is coupled to the drum by a transmission. The flexible sheet includes a base fabric and a polymer coating surrounding the base fabric, and is coupled to the roller drum at a first end of the sheet. The one or more conductive threads are woven into the base fabric. At least one conductive thread electrically couples the electromagnet to one of the power supplies. The potentiometer varies the current delivered to the electromagnet based on a force measured by the force meter.

Abstract: A compact inflator is described herein. The inflator may include a rotatable drum, an air pump disposed within the drum, a fixed securing mechanism that provides structural support to, and enables rotation of, the drum, a power supply, and an electric power transmission mechanism. The drum may draw in and let out a hose. The hose may have a first end and a second end, the first end having a connection mechanism that connects the hose to an inflatable object. The air pump may be connected to the second end of the hose. The power supply may provide power to the motor, and may be coupled to the pump or the power supply. The power transmission mechanism may include a slip ring assembly or a pair of parallel inductors, one which rotates with the drum about the other.

Abstract: Embodiments of the zero-resonance microwave oven are described herein that include a cooking cavity, an opening that allows access to the cavity, one or more microwave-transparent walls surrounding the cavity, a microwave-opaque housing also surrounding the cavity, and a reservoir disposed between the microwave-transparent walls and the microwave-opaque housing. The reservoir is filled with a dielectric material, and has a depth greater than or equal to half the penetration depth of microwaves in the dielectric material and less than or equal to twice the penetration depth of microwaves in the dielectric material. Other embodiments of the zero-resonance microwave oven are also described herein.
