Abstract:
An apparatus comprising a printed circuit board. A first integrated circuit (IC) is mounted on the printed circuit board, wherein the first IC comprises a first memory device, and wherein the first IC is configured to operate in a first mode when a first value is stored in the first memory device, and wherein the first IC is configured to operate in a second mode when a second value is stored in the first memory device. The printed circuit board also includes a second IC mounted thereon. The second IC comprises a second memory device that stores the first value. A third IC mounted on the printed circuit board is configured to provide a copy of the first value stored in the second memory device to the first IC for storage in the first memory device, wherein the third IC is configured to provide the copy of the first value to the first IC without condition.
Abstract:
A method for tapping of steel from a steelmaking furnace to a receiving vessel comprising the steps of providing a steelmaking furnace comprising a tapping hole, and means for angular positioning of the furnace to vary the depth of molten steel and slag contained in the furnace above the tapping hole; determining a guidance profile for the tapping of the furnace, the guidance profile including the parameters of minimum tapping angle, maximum tapping angle, and time of rotation from the minimum tapping angle to the maximum tapping angle; performing an initial angular rotation of the furnace from an initial position to the minimum tapping angle; beginning the transfer of molten steel from the furnace through the tapping hole to a receiving vessel; rotating the furnace to the maximum tapping angle in accordance with the guidance profile; and ceasing the flow of molten steel through the tapping hole.
Abstract:
A method for billable timekeeping using a computer is described. The method comprises generating a time input window corresponding to an event for receiving and recording a start time and an end time for the event against an identifier; comparing the start time and end time of the event with the start time and end time of another event for the identifier; and, generating a conflict resolution input window for selection of a conflict resolution option in the event of an overlap in duration between the event and the another event. Various different options exist for resolving the conflict by adjusting the start time or end time for one or both the event or the another event, truncation of the event or the other event to remove the conflict or distributing the overlap in duration between the event and the another event to remove the conflict.
Abstract:
A method for completing a well in a single trip is described, which includes inserting a completion tool assembly into the wellbore. The completion tool assembly includes a gravel packing assembly having a central channel substantially therethrough and a service tool assembly slidably positioned within the central channel. The service tool includes a pressure pulsating rotating jetting tool, connectable to a washpipe via a differential valve. By selectively dropping a plurality of plugging devices into the completion tool, multiple operations may be selectively performed in the wellbore in a single trip. In this way, the gravel packing and stimulating operations may be performed by a single completion tool assembly in a single trip into the wellbore, thus reducing the cost and time for performing the gravel packing and stimulating operations.
Abstract:
An inert impingement surface that is pliable and which, when set in motion, works to shed itself of particle deposits. The pliable surface may be formed of a plurality of coactive members that co-operate with one another to clean-off the particle deposits from each other's surfaces. The coactive members may be in the form of chains, rods, cables, wires, granular inert materials such as gravel or metal balls or other impact means. The pliable surface may also be formed of a heat-resistant material which is caused to experience a continuing shape change, thereby casting-off the particle deposits adhering to the surface.
Abstract:
This invention relates to a method and apparatus for forming soft capsules and provides novel processing flexibility. The apparatus includes extrusion dies as an alternative to spreader boxes and the use of melt-on-demand technology to enhance the long term stability of the film-forming materials. Preferred embodiments provide a positive displacement pump to transport the molten film-forming material from the melt-on-demand device to the extrusion device and preferably a reservoir means disposed between said extrusion device and said means to melt said film-forming material. The encapsulation apparatus may also include a valved injection wedge.
Abstract:
Product attrition by dusting of granular and shaped activated carbons is disclosed to be reduced significantly, or essentially eliminated, by the application of a thin, continuous polymer coating on the granular or shaped activated carbon, without a reduction in adsorption velocity, packing density, or volumetric capacity of the activated carbon when used in fluid stream filters for removing contaminants. The avoidance of carbon dust and the maintenance of the carbon particle packing density lead to improved fluid stream filter performance in contaminant removal.
