Abstract: Technology for a display source device is described. The display source device can receive a frame start indication from a display panel at a start of a frame. The display source device can align a timing of the display source device to a timing of the display panel based on the frame start indication received from the display panel to obtain frame-level synchronization between the display source device and the display panel. The display source device can send one or more frame update regions to the display panel in accordance with the timing of the display source device that is aligned to the timing of the display panel.

Abstract: Technology for a display source controller is described. The display source controller can receive display pixel data from a display source. The display source controller can convert the display pixel data to display symbol data that includes a plurality of 32-bit double words (DWords). The display source controller can divide the display symbol data that includes the plurality of 32-bit DWords for a number of unidirectional serial data channels. The display source controller can process, for each unidirectional serial data channel, the display symbol data at a 32-bit DWord granularity level. The display source controller can send the display symbol data for each of the unidirectional serial data channels over a physical serial link to a display panel.

Abstract: One embodiment provides a video transport system. The video transport system includes graphics processing circuitry to generate a video transport unit (TU) corresponding to a scan line of a first video frame that is unchanged from a second video frame, wherein the video TU includes a control sequence and an unchanged data payload corresponding to a defined number of pixels of the scan line of the first video frame. The video transport system of this embodiment also includes source tunneling bridge circuitry to generate a bus TU based on the video TU; the source tunneling bridge circuitry to parse the control sequence or the unchanged data payload of the video TU, and to generate the bus TU having a header that includes a field to identify the defined number of pixels of the unchanged data payload, and to eliminate, in whole or in part, the unchanged data payload in the bus TU.

Abstract: The present disclosure is directed to systems and methods of maintaining source device to sink device synchronization in systems in which the source device enters a Panel Self-Refresh (PSR/PSR2) mode and the sink device enables adaptive synchronization with the source device. To maintain synchronization, in some instances the source device and the sink device may maintain synchronization contemporaneous with at least a portion of the PSR/PSR2 operating mode. To maintain synchronization, in some instances, a high-bandwidth communications link may be maintained between the source device and the sink device. In some instances, synchronization between the source device and the sink device may be interrupted upon the source device entering the PSR/PSR2 operating mode and may be re-established upon the source device exiting the PSR/PSR2 operating mode.

Abstract: Systems and methods may provide for using one or more stereoscopic devices for gesture control and tracking in a head mounted display (HMD). Each of the one or more stereoscopic devices may include a pair of dynamic vision sensors (DVS) arranged to have complementary fields of view (FOV) to detect one or more of a leading and a trailing edge of an object moving in a range or area to be detected. The DVS sensors determine how the object is moving based on a change in light intensity of pixels without having to detect, transfer, or process all of the pixels. The system and method may thereby provide motion tracking and gesture control functions at very low latency and processing bandwidth.

Disclosed examples also up-sample the second image data based on first metadata to generate up-sampled second image data, the up-sampled second image data to have the first resolution, and combine the first image data and the up-sampled second image data based on second metadata. Disclosed examples further perform, based on third metadata, a combination of at least two different filter operations on an overlap region including a portion of the first image data and a portion of the up-sampled second image data to generate the foveated image frame, the third metadata to specify a width in pixels of the overlap region.

Abstract: Technology for a display device is described. The display device can include one or more display screens operable to show at least two display panels. The display device can include a controller. The controller can send a request for frame data from each of the at least two display panels to a source device. The controller can receive, from the source device, a same frame indication for each of the at least two display panels. The controller can provide frame data received from the source device based on the same frame indication to the at least two display panels. The same frame indication can cause the at least two display panels to synchronously display frame data received from the source device.
