Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a waste water treating agent capable of efficiently treatment a waste water containing particularly heavy metals or oil component by using a crystalline silicate compound expressed by a specific general formula as an anhydride and equal or more than the specified value in a cation exchange capacity as a main component. CONSTITUTION:The waste water treating agent is composed of the crystalline silicate compound as an effective component. The crystalline silicate compound is expressed by xM2O.ySiO2M'O as the general formula of the anhydride. The cation exchange capacity is controlled to >=150mg CaCO3/g. In the formula, M are Na and/or K, M' are Ca and/or Mg, (y)/(x) is 0.5-4.0, (z)/(x) is 0-1.0. The crystalline silicate compound having 0.3-3.0ml/g oil absorption ability can be used as the effective component. And the silicate compound is used for the method for treating the waste water containing heavy metal or oil component.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To make an inorg. ton exchanger constituted by a compsn. represented by xM2O.ySiO2.zMemOn and a hydrate thereof substantially insoluble in water to specify the cation exchange capacity thereof, and to enhance the water solubility resistance and ion exchange capacity thereof. CONSTITUTION:An inorg ion exchanger is constituted of a compsn. represented by specific general formula xM2O.ySiO2.zMemOn (wherein is hydrogen or group Ia elements, Me is one of groups IIa, IIb, IIIa, IVa, VIII elements, y/x is set to 0.5-2.0, z/x is set to 0.01-1.0 and n/m is set to 0.5-2.0). A hydrate of the inorg. ion exchanger may also be constituted by the compsn. represented by ' formula. The inorg. ion exchanger and the hydrate thereof are made substantially insoluble in water and the cation exchange capacity thereof is set to 200-600 CaCO3 mg/g. By this constitution, a product excellent in water solubility resistance and having high ion exchange capacity is obtained.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain BaSO4 useful as cosmetic extender pigment having excellent masking and feeling in use, high light scattering and transparency and to provide a stable production of barium sulfate being coarse with 4-20mum average particle diameter and having characteristics of >=50% light scattering strength and >=70% total light transmittance. CONSTITUTION:A barium compound and a sulfate compound are reacted under the following conditions (a)-(c) to produce barium sulfate. (a) 0.001-0.1mol/l barium compound solution and sulfate compound solution are reacted in 0.1-5 molar ratio of the barium compound and the sulfate compound. (b) Either the barium compound solution or the sulfate compound solution is added dropwise to the other in 2 seconds to 7 minutes. (c) pH of the reaction medium is adjusted to 0.5-10.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain plate-type barium sulfate excellent in usability, transparency, and hiding effect by specifying the aspect ratio and the ratio of the square of edge length to the area of orthogonal projection of the plate surface. CONSTITUTION:Barium sulfate (BaSO4) has a plate-like structure with the aspect ratio of 5-100 and the ratio of the square of edge length to the area of orthogonal projection of the plate surface in the range 20:1-150:1. This plate-type BaSO4 is prepared by the following method. Namely, the reaction of Ba salt solution such as BaCl2 and sulfate solution such as Na2SO4 is effected to obtain plate- type BaSO4. In this case, each concn. of Ba ion and SO4 ion in the Ba salt solution is required to 0.001-0.05mol/l before the reaction. The Ba salt solution and sulfate solution are mixed by the molar ratio of (1:10)-(5:1) for the reaction. During the reaction, the solution is controlled to pH1.0-5.0 by addition sulfuric acid, etc., if required, and the reaction temp. is kept at 50-100 deg.C.
