    Abstract: A voice recognition system for an elevator system including: one or more microphones configured to capture a voice command from an individual and convert the voice command into an audio signal; a command arbitrator including one or more speech interpretation systems, the command arbitrator being configured to analyze the audio signal and determine an interpreted command for the elevator system from the audio signal using the one or more speech interpretation systems, wherein the interpreted command includes a confidence measure associated with the interpreted command, and wherein the confidence measure is an indicator depicting how confident the command arbitrator is that the interpreted command matches the voice command from the individual.

    Abstract: Disclosed is an elevator system having: a controller; an elevator car operationally connected to the controller; a first sensor configured to provide first sensor data to the controller, wherein the controller is configured to identify a capacity parameter of the elevator car, wherein the capacity parameter includes one or more of: loaded weight; volume of available space; or volume of occupied space; a second sensor configured to provide second sensor data to the controller, wherein the controller is configured to determine that passengers remain outside the elevator car when the elevator car is stopped at a landing and its elevator doors are open; and wherein from the first sensor data and the second sensor data, the controller is configured to determine a reduced capacity limit for the elevator car as a function of the capacity parameter.

    Abstract: A shuttle elevator loading system includes a plurality of shuttle elevators configured to service a building lobby. At least one sensor is configured to detect at least one passenger and at least one display unit is located at a display zone of the lobby. An elevator system controller is in signal communication with the at least one sensor and the at least one display unit. The elevator system controller determines a number of allocated passengers corresponding to each shuttle elevator and generates assignment information that directs a non-allocated passenger to an available shuttle elevator.

    Abstract: A transfer station (40) for a ropeless elevator system hoistway (11) is provided. The transfer station (40) includes a first lane (13, 15, 17), a second lane (13, 15, 17), and a parking area (42) located proximate one of the first lane (13, 15, 17) and the second lane (13, 15, 17). The transfer station (40) also includes a plurality of carriages (46) moveable within the first lane (13, 15, 17), the second lane (13, 15, 17), and the parking area (42), the plurality of carriages (46) configured to support and move an elevator car (14). The transfer station (40) further includes a cassette (44) configured to support and move the plurality of carriages (46). The transfer station (40) yet further includes a guiding member (48) engaged with the cassette (44), wherein the position of each of the plurality of carriages (46) relative to the first lane (13, 15, 17), the second lane (13, 15, 17) and the parking area (42) is modified by horizontal or vertical movement of the cassette (44).

    Abstract: An elevator system may include an elevator car having an electrically powered car subsystem and a guide rail constructed and arranged to guide the elevator car along a hoistway and in a direction of travel. Primary windings of the system are positioned along the hoistway, and a permanent magnet assembly is coupled to the elevator car. Together, the primary windings and the permanent magnet assembly define a linear motor for imparting motion to the elevator car in response to a drive signal. A secondary winding assembly of the elevator system is coupled to the elevator car and is located adjacent to the permanent magnet assembly along the direction of travel. In operation, the secondary winding assembly generates a current to power the car subsystem.
