The present invention generally relates to the field of uninterruptable power supplies (UPSs) and more specifically, to UPSs using supercapacitors (also may be referred to as ultracapacitors) and/or other capacitor and/or battery elements. In an embodiment, a UPS of the present invention can individually regulate the charging of its capacitive elements to avoid overcharging and/or achieve a more efficient charge state.

In one embodiment, the present invention is a communication connector, comprising a compensation circuit for providing a compensating signal to approximately cancel an offending signal over a range of frequency, the compensation circuit including a capacitive coupling with a first magnitude growing at a first rate over the range of frequency and a mutual inductive coupling with a second magnitude growing at a second rate over the range of frequency, the second rate being greater than the first rate (e.g., the second rate approximately double the first rate).

A communication plug having a plug body and a plurality of contact pairs at least partially within the plug body, the contact pairs including an inherent asymmetric coupling between individual contacts of one of the contact pairs and other individual contacts of another of the contact pairs. Second asymmetric coupling elements are connected between the individual contacts of one of the contact pairs and the other individual contacts of another of the contact pairs. The second asymmetric coupling elements, when combined with the inherent asymmetric coupling, provide a balanced symmetric coupling between the individual contacts of one of the contact pairs and the other individual contacts of another of the contact pairs.

A communication cable with a plurality of twisted pairs of conductors and a matrix tape having conductive segments separated by gaps. In some embodiments, an insulating layer is placed between the twisted pairs of conductors and the matrix tape. In some embodiments, the insulating layer is an embossed or perforated film.
Abstract:
Alien crosstalk in communication channels is decreased with the use of crosstalk- mitigating materials. Electrical communication cables may be provided with crosstalk-mitigating materials that surround twisted pairs in the cables. According to one embodiment, the crosstalk- mitigating material is an electrically resistive material having electrically conductive areas placed thereon. Such a material mitigates the effects of electrical and magnetic fields that would normally lead to alien crosstalk between communication channels.
Abstract:
Systems and methods for decreasing alien crosstalk use enhanced patch cords for introducing additional attenuation. The enhanced patch cords are preferably shielded to reduce alien crosstalk down their lengths and also attenuate signals passing therethrough to a greater extent than standard communication patch cords. The interaction of two enhanced patch cords results in two suppression steps for alien crosstalk and only one suppression step for intended signal passing through a communication cable.
Abstract:
A method of detecting a fault in a power distribution system is provided. The method comprises: providing a power source; providing a load to be powered by the power source; providing a connection from the power source to the load; placing a current source on the connection from the power source to the load; detecting a change in a voltage on the connection indicative of a change of an impedance in the power distribution system; and determining a fault is present within the power distribution system based on the detected change in the voltage on the connection.
