Abstract: In a data communication system capable of variable rate transmission, high rate packet data transmission improves utilization of the forward link and decreases the transmission delay. Data transmission on the forward link is time multiplexed and the base station transmits at the highest data rate supported by the forward link at each time slot to one mobile station. The data rate is determined by the largest C/I measurement of the forward link signals as measured at the mobile station. Upon determination of a data packet received in error, the mobile station transmits a NACK message back to the base station. The NACK message results in retransmission of the data packet received in error. The data packets can be transmitted out of sequence by the use of sequence number to identify each data unit within the data packets.

Abstract: método e equipamento para transmissão de dados em pacote em taxa elevada. em um sistema de comunicação de dados capaz de transmissão a taxas variáveis, a transmissão de dados em pacotes em taxas elevadas melhora a utilizaçào do link direto (forward link) e reduz o retardo de transmissão. a transmissão de dados através do link direto é multiplexada no tempo e a estação base transmite na taxa de dados mais elevada suportada pelo link direto em cada partição de tempo para uma estação móvel. a taxa de dados é determinada pela medição c/i mais elevada dos sinais de link direto como medidos na estação móvel. na determinação de um pacote de dados recebido com erro, a estação móvel transmite uma mensagem nack de volta à estação base. a mensagem nack resulta na retransmissão do pacote de dados recebido com erro. os pacotes de dados podem ser transmitidos fora de sequência pelo uso de um número de seqdência paza identificar cada unidade de dados dentro dos pacotes de dados.

Abstract: Un procedimiento para el control de la velocidad de transferencia de datos de una señal transmitida a través de un canal inalámbrico durante un segmento de tiempo desde una estación base (4) hasta una estación móvil (6), el segmento de tiempo comprendiendo una pluralidad de ranuras de tiempo, el procedimiento comprendiendo: recibir un mensaje de solicitud de datos, un mensaje DRC, en la estación base (4) transmitido desde la estación móvil (6) y conteniendo una indicación de una medida de calidad del canal; seleccionar en la estación base una velocidad de transferencia de datos que esté basada en dicha indicación del mensaje DRC recibido; transmitir la señal desde la estación base (4) durante el segmento de tiempo a dicha velocidad de transferencia de datos, caracterizado porque la indicación en el mensaje DRC está basada en una señal piloto transmitida a través de un canal de enlace directo piloto desde la estación base (4) y el mensaje DRC se recibe en cada ranura de tiempo en la estación base (4).
