    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may identify a scheduling offset threshold corresponding to a cross-slot grant. The UE may monitor a control channel in a first slot for the cross-slot grant, the control channel having a first numerology that is different than a second numerology of a shared channel and determine a beginning slot defined in the second numerology based on interpreting the scheduling offset threshold as being defined in the first numerology or the second numerology. The UE may then enter a low power state, or communicating a data transmission, during the beginning slot based on whether the cross-slot grant is detected.

The UE may determine, based on the allocated communication resources, a default transmit beam for communicating with the base station. The UE and base station may (e.g., independently) identify a triggering condition for using the default transmit beam. In some wireless communications systems, a user equipment (UE) may support techniques for monitoring the quality of a radio link with a base station (e.g., radio link monitoring (RLM)). If the UE determines that the quality of the radio link is too low, the UE may declare that there is a radio link failure (RLF), and the UE may take action to reconnect with the base station or connect with a different base station. As described herein, the UE may monitor the quality of the radio link by monitoring the quality of multiple reference signals of different types received from the base station. In one example, the UE may be configured by the base station to use one or more specific reference signals for performing RLM based on the quality of different types of reference signals received by the UE.
