    Abstract: A random access configuration information based on a reference SCS may allow for a unified coordinate system used by the base station and UEs that describes the time-frequency resource configuration for a two-step RACH procedure. The apparatus receives, from a base station, random access configuration information for the base station. The apparatus determines a first time duration for a preamble of a first random access message based on the random access configuration information received from the base station and a reference SCS associated with an uplink BWP configured for the first random access message. The apparatus determines a second time duration for a payload of the first random access message based on the random access configuration information received from the base station and the reference SCS. The apparatus transmits the first message to the base station to initiate a random access procedure.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described in which a UE may determine a time duration of a transmission gap between a random access preamble and random access payload. The time duration of the transmission gap may be based on a configuration of the random access channel resources, a timing adjustment (e.g., an estimated propagation delay) for uplink transmissions from the UE, a beam management procedure at the UE and/or the base station, or combinations thereof. The UE may select an initial transmission gap duration based on the configuration of the random access channel resources, and may adjust the initial transmission gap duration based on the timing adjustment. Multiple UEs may be configured such that random access channel transmissions align with a random access occasion (RO) window. A base station may decode messages from multiple UEs using joint or successive decoding to recover the corresponding random access messages.

A wireless device may receive an allocation of uplink resources for an uplink transmission of uplink control information (UCI) during a long physical uplink control channel (PUCCH), which may range from four to fourteen symbol periods in length. The wireless device may identify a frequency hopping location based on the length of the PUCCH and a number of bits used to represent the UCI. In some cases, the frequency hopping location partitions the long PUCCH into a first set of symbol periods and a second set of symbol periods. After identifying the frequency hopping location, the wireless device may transmit a UCI message, which may include information and reference symbols, over a first frequency bandwidth during the first set of symbol periods and over a second frequency bandwidth during the second set of symbol periods.
