Abstract: This disclosure provides methods, devices and systems for pre-compensation of downlink communication based on a transmission of a request for the pre-compensation from a user equipment (UE). For example, the UE may determine an impairment at the UE that has a greater severity (a greater impact on downlink communication) or is associated with a greater amount of resources for processing relative to a remainder of a set of impairments that is experienced at the UE and the UE may transmit a request for pre-compensation of the impairment by a base station. The base station may transmit feedback to the UE indicating a confirmation of pre-compensation for the impairment by the base station or to deferment of compensation for the impairment back to the UE. If the base station acknowledges pre-compensation for the impairment, the base station may pre-compensate a downlink transmission to the UE for the impairment.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may receive a configuration of random access resources from a base station. The configuration may indicate a quantity of a plurality of random access preambles, a quantity of a plurality of synchronization signal blocks (S SBs), and a quantity of random access preambles per SSB. The received configuration may indicate that each random access preamble of the plurality of random access preambles is available to the UE in the random access occasion for each SSB of a plurality of SSBs transmitted by the base station. The UE may select a random access preamble of the plurality of random access preambles based at least in part on the received configuration and transmit the selected random access preamble to the base station in the random access occasion.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A base station may transmit control signaling including a beam shaping configuration to a channel engineering device. The channel engineering device may apply the beam shaping configuration during a time period in which the base station is communicating with a user equipment (UE). The beam shaping configuration may include one or more parameters that modify one or more deflection settings at the channel engineering device to adjust an electronic metamaterial of the channel engineering device to focus received signal energy, reflect received signal energy, refract received signal energy, filter received signal energy, or any combination thereof. The base station and one or more UEs may communicate using the channel engineering device based on the beam shaping configuration.

A first device may transmit an indication of a first set of signal strength metrics for signal strengths of transmit beams of a second device using receive beams of the first device and a second set of signal strength metrics for signal strengths of transmit beams of the first device using the receive beams of the first device. Abstract: Techniques for wireless communications are described. A demodulation reference signal generated using user information and a noncoherent modulation technique may be communicated between wireless devices. A data sequence may be extracted from the demodulation reference signal based on demodulating the demodulation reference signal using the noncoherent modulation technique and decoding the demodulation reference signal. The data sequence may be used to reconstruct a version of the demodulation reference signal used to descramble a received version of the demodulation reference signal. The descrambled demodulation reference signal may be used to estimate a data channel between a transmitting device and a receiving device.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A transmitting device may encode a set of bits to transmit to a receiving device based on a repetition factor. The transmitting device may map, based on the repetition factor, the set of encoded bits to a subset of subcarriers such as adjacent subcarriers of a set of subcarriers. The transmitting device may generate a signal including the set of encoded bits based on the mapping, and transmit the generated signal to the receiving device. The receiving device may receive a modulated signal from the transmitting device, and identify, based on a repetition factor, a subset of subcarriers including adjacent subcarriers of a set of subcarriers associated with the modulated signal. The receiving device may average the subset of subcarriers including the adjacent subcarriers, and demodulate the modulated signal in accordance with the averaged subset of subcarriers including the adjacent subcarriers.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. In some systems, a user equipment (UE) may measure a received power of one or more reference signals, such as channel state information (CSI) reference signals (CSI-RSs) or synchronization signal blocks (SSBs), transmitted by a base station for a beam management procedure. The UE may determine a set of channel statistics associated with a channel used by the base station to transmit the one or more reference signals based on performing the beam management procedure. The UE may transmit a report to the base station, the report including at least an indication of the received of the one or more reference signals and the set of channel statistics. The base station may select a beam or a channel for communication with the UE based on at least the indication of the received power and the set of channel statistics.

Abstract: This disclosure provides methods, devices and systems for reducing PAPR in wireless communications. Some implementations more specifically relate to suppressing the amplitudes of a data signal that exceed a threshold amplitude level. In some implementations, a transmitting device may detect one or more peaks associated with a data signal to be transmitted to a receiving device. A peak may be any sample of a data signal having an amplitude that exceeds a threshold amplitude level. The transmitting device generates peak suppression information indicating the amplitude, a phase and a position of each of the samples associated with the detected peaks. The transmitting device adjusts the data signal by reducing the amplitudes associated with the detected peaks and transmits the adjusted data signal, with the peak suppression information, to the receiving device. In some implementations, the transmitting device may compress the peak suppression information to reduce the overhead of the transmission.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. In one example, a transmitting device may identify first and second portions of data to include in a data transmission. The transmitting device may encode the second portion by a configuration of a first subset of resource elements. The transmitting device may transmit, via the data transmission, first signals representative of the first portion over the first subset and one or more second signals over a second subset of resource elements. A receiving device may receive the data transmission and may identify that the one or more second signals include content other than data of the data transmission. The receiving device may decode the first signals in order to identify the first portion and the configuration in order to identify the second portion. The receiving device may refrain from decoding the one or more second signals based on the identifying.
