Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve a bit error rate and to secure a skew margin by correcting channel bit data when there are data not satisfying conditions of a minimum consecutive length and a maximum consecutive length of the same symbol in the channel bit data obtained by thresholding signals read from a recording medium. SOLUTION: A level of an RF signal 7a is stored tentatively in an RF signal level storage section 20 at discrimination of a binary level of channel bits. A (d'-1) detection section 16 and a (k'+1) detection section 17 detect data not satisfying conditions of a minimum consecutive length and a maximum consecutive length of the same symbol in the channel bit data strings. The decoder is provided with correction bit location detection sections 18, 19 which provide an output of a correction bit location designation signal based on a level of the RF signal at discrimination of a binary level stored in the RF signal level storage section 20 and with a bit data inversion correction section 15 inverting a logic level of a bit location designated based on the correction bit location designation signals 18a, 18b, 19a, 19b.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To exactly measure the skew and reflectivity of a measured surface having coated layers by avoiding the interference between the reflection light of the measured surface and the reflection light of the coated layer surface. CONSTITUTION:The title device is constituted of at least a light source 1, light condensing lens system 2 and a photodetector 3. The light from the light source 1 which is condensed by the light condensing lens system 2 is casted on a measured surface 4 placed in front of the focus of the light condensing lens system 2. Near the reflection light L0 from this measured surface 4, a photodetector 3 is provided in the constitution.
