In the relative time region, (224-1) addresses are expressed by binary expression. Moreover, absolute time is recorded by absolute time expression in an MSF format same as normal CDs and a 'time' figure in which 1 is added every time a 59 minute 59 second 74 frame is exceeded.

In a period in which the signal LG is a high level, the output of a NAND gate 24 always becomes a high level and the gate circuit 21 is disabled. Thus, the output of the absolute value signal of phase error is masked. Consequently, control of bias adjustment of a focusing error signal based on the phase error in the write-on area is prohibited.
