Abstract: PURPOSE:To reduce the abrasion of a magnetic head and to prevent its unsymetrical wear by arranging a driving roller on a vertical line passing the central point connecting a supplying reel and a winding reel, and a follower roller at the symmetrical position of the vertical line. CONSTITUTION:The projecting part 2a of a case 2 projecting from a driving device 1 is projected in a horizontal direction, to obtain a constitution having wide breadth, and the supplying reel 3 and the winding reel 4 are arranged at the symmetrical position of the projecting part 2a. The driving roller 9 is arranged on the vertical line passing the central part connecting the reels 3 and 4, and the follower rollers 10a and 10b are arranged at the symmetrical position of the vertical line. Then, a driving belt 11 press-contacting to the most outer periphery of a tape 5 wound on the reels 3 and 4, can be symmetrically stretched. Thus, the difference of table tension caused by a change in the winding quantity of the reels 3 and 4 is reduced, the abrasion is reduced, and the unsymetrical wear of the magnetic head can be prevented, as well.

Thus, the height of a pair of tape reels 4 and the tape to the base plate 2 is set with high accuracy, and the height 5 to the head for the recording and reproduction is regulated with high accuracy.

The peripheral frame 2 is constituted of a highly rigid member of such as a light metal, while the covers 3, 4 are made of light-weight synthetic resin, hence the cartridge 1 is extremely light in weight. Therefore, the upper and the lower covers 3, 4 are protected at a high rigidity by the frame 2 with its high rigidity, as a result, the covers 3, 4 can be prevented from being deformed or damaged due to distortion, etc. that may occur during handling.

Then the part 12 can be surely and tentatively fixed at the part 25 formed between both shells 1 and 2. As a result, the spring 11 can be easily and surely attached with an automatic machine.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a disk cassette, which is adaptable to a high density magnetic disk, having a lock out mechanism unable to insert to a standard disk cassette drive. SOLUTION: On this disk cassette 1, the right end 29 of a shutter 5 is extended to the right side by the portion of an expanded part 28 beyond the right end 27 (chain line) of a conventional shutter. A stepped part 19 of the upper side edge of the case is covered by the right upper part of the shutter 5, and the upper side edge of the shutter 5 and the right upper part of the upper side edge of the case 3 are smoothly connected. Therefore, the recess whereto a slide pin 7 is entered, is not in existence between the end part of the shutter 5 and the side edge of the case, then the slide pin 7 is not engaged with the end part of the shutter 5.
