Therefore, even in the case of incorporating a rotary transformer in a rotary drum, the adverse effect such as the stagger of cores, etc., which influences the video channel is reduced and at the same time the width of the video channel can be expanded by the width obtained by narrowing the width of the flying erase channel, so that the efficiency of the video channel can be improved.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To prevent production of chroma flicker by dividing a distance between a head chip edge and a main gap by a recording wavelength and selecting the equal residue as the same rank and combining the heads of the equal rank to form one set of head pair. CONSTITUTION:Lots of head pieces 4A, 4B are produced and a distance (l) from chip edges 6A, 6B to main gaps 5A, 5B is measured to constitute the head pair. That is, the distance (l) is divided by the wavelength lambda of the low frequency conversion chroma signal. The residues Res (l/lambda) being the division of the distance (l) by the wavelength are selected to be the same ranks and lots of heads 4A, 4B are grouped by the ranks. The phase difference sigma between the reproducing signal by the chip edges 6A, 6B and the reproducing signal by the main gaps 5A, 5B is obtained as in equation I. Thus, in using the head pair with equal Res (l/lambda), even when the reproducing signal by the shape effect of the chip edges 6A, 6B is overlapped onto the burst signal reproduced by the main gaps 5A, 5B, the burst signal is fluctuated similarly and no chroma flicker appears.

A system is composed by appropriately combining a floating-type magnetic head or a contacting- type magnetic head with rotating modes, and a running system most appropriate for revolutions of the disk is realized over a sufficiently wide range of the linear velocity. Furthermore, a signal processing operation at a signal processing circuit 5 is changed in accordance with a low speed rotation mode and a high speed rotation mode to obtain an improved S/N ratio or the like.
