Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase the luminescent efficiency and to improve the color purity by including a metallic complex composed of a ligand having an imidazopyridine skeleton in an element. SOLUTION: This element includes a metallic complex composed of a ligand having an imidazopyridine skeleton represented by the formula. In the] formula, R1-R6 may be or different, and selected from hydrogen, an alkyl group, cycloalkyl group, aralkyl group, alkenyl group, cycloalkenyl group, hydroxyl group, mercapto group, alkoxy group, alkylthio group, aryl group, heterocyclic group, halogen, haloalkane, haloalkene, cyano group, aldehyade group, carbonyl group, carboxyl group, ester group, amino group, nitro group, silyl group or the like. At least one of R1 and R6 has one of a hydroxyl group, mercapto group, a non-substituted or mono-substituted amino group and a non-substituted carboxyl group.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance luminous efficiency, brightness, and color purity by interposing a luminescent material between an anode and a cathode, and including a compound having a phenanthroazole skeleton in an element emitting light with electric energy. SOLUTION: A compound having a phenanthroazole skeleton suitably used as a host material or a dopant material in a material of a hole transport layer, an electron transport layer, and a luminescent layer for constituting a luminescent element is represented by the formula, and specifically useful to blue luminescence. In the formula, R1-R9 represent bonding, hydrogen, an alkyl group, a cycloalkyl group, an aralkyl group, an alkenyl group, a cycloalkenyl group, an alkoxy group, an alkylthio group, an arylether group, an aryl thioether group, an aryl group, a heterocyclic group, halogen, a cyano group, an aldehyde group, a carbonyl group, an ester group, a carbamoyl group, an amino group, a nitro group, a silyl group, a siloxyanyl group, and ring structure formed between adjacent substituting groups, and Z1 represents oxygen, sulfur, nitrogen, or saturated hydrocarbon.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a red light emitting element having high color purity by including at least a pyrrolo [3,4-c] pyrrole derivative having a fluorescence peak wave length being in a specific range and a compound having a pyrromethene skeleton or the metallic complex. SOLUTION: A light emitting material emits the light in a peak wave length of 580 nm to 720 nm by electric energy. This light emitting material includes a pyrrolo [3,4-c] pyrrole derivative having a fluorescence peak wave length of 540 nm to 720 nm and a compound having a pyrromethene skeleton or the metallic complex. The pyrromethene skeleton is expressed by the formula. In the formula, R1 to R7 may be the same or may be different, and are hydrogen, alkyl, alkoxy, halogen, aryl, aralkyl, alkenyl or the like, X is carbon or nitrogen, but in the case of nitrogen, R7 does not exist. B, Be, Mg, Cr, Fe, Co, Ni, Cu, Zn, Pt or the like are preferably cited as metal capable of coordinating with the metallic complex.

In the formula, R1 to R7 may be the same or may be different, and are independently hydrogen, alkyl, alkoxy, halogen, aryl, aralkyl, alkenyl or the like, X is carbon or nitrogen, but in the case of nitrogen, R7 does not exist.
