Abstract:
A galvanic cell having a closure member which contains a resealable vent comprising the inwardly turned peripheral edge portion of the cell container and a closure member having a resilient peripheral lip and a resilient annular flange, the low profile construction of which allows for increased amounts of reactive material to be placed within the cell container.
Abstract:
Narrow, balanced alkoxylation product mixture distributions having at least one alkoxylation product constituting more than 20 weight percent of the mixture can be provided by modified, calcium-containing catalysts. Catalysts for alkoxylation processes can be produced from lime and can, with modification, be used to make the narrow, balanced alkoxylation product mixture distribution.
Abstract:
A female closure element comprising a U-shaped channel element including a profile portion (24) comprising a base portion (26) having a pair of spaced-apart, parallelly disposed webs (27) extending from the base portion and terminating in hooks (28) extending nonlinearly from the webs and facing each other. The hooks (28) each include a projection (30) extending nonlinearly in a direction facing away from each other. The female closure element may be employed with a made closure element having a U-shaped channel element including a profile portion (18) comprising a base portion (20) having a pair of spaced-apart, parallelly disposed webs (21) attached to the base portion (20) and extending therefrom, the webs (21) terminating in hooks comprising hook portions (22) facing away from each other and hook projections (31) facing toward each other. The closure elements may be employed with containers (10) to provide thereto improved ease of occlusion and deocclusion.
Abstract:
A moldable and compatible blend of 5 to 95 weight percent polycarbonate comprising from about 20 weight percent to 100 weight percent of repeating units (I) and from 0 weight percent to about 80 weight percent of repeating units (II), in which the repeating units (I) and the repeating units (II) are connected by interbonding units (III), wherein Y is selected from alkyl groups of 1 to 4 carbon atoms, chlorine or bromine, each z, independently, has a value of from 0 to 4 inclusive, n has a value of 0 or 1, and R1 is a divalent saturated or unsaturated aliphatic hydrocarbon radical, O, CO, SO2, S or a direct bond, with the proviso that when R1 is SO2 then repeating unit (II) is not the same as repeating unit (I), and 95 to 5 weight percent of a styrenic polymer.
Abstract:
A vacuum insulated conduit exhibiting reduced thermal leakage through a joint area. The evacuated space between inner and outer pipes (10, 14) is reduced in the joint area by a plate (22) from the outer pipe (14) to bellows (27) covering the inner pipe (10) which form the major heat transfer pathway.
Abstract:
Ethylene copolymers having a density of less than 0.91 g/cm3 and a 1% secant modulus of less than 140,000 kPa are continuously prepared in a fluidized bed without particle agglomeration by continuously contacting, in such fluidized bed, at a temperature of from 10oC up to 80oC, a gaseous mixture containing (a) ethylene and at least one higher alpha olefin in a molar ratio of such higher alpha olefin to ethylene of from 0.35:1 to 8.0:1, and (b) at least 25 mol percent of a diluent gas, with a catalyst composition prepared by forming a precursor composition from a magnesium compound, titanium compound, and electron donor compound; diluting said precursor composition with an inert carrier; and activating the diluted precursor composition with an organoaluminum compound.
Abstract:
The present invention discloses an improved method for forming stable dispersions of particulate matter. In particular, the present invention relates to a method of forming stable dispersions of particulate matter in both organic and silicone-based fluids.
Abstract:
The use of an organic polymer additive to minimize or prevent the rhodium of a rhodium-organophosphite complex catalyst from precipitating from solution during a liquid recycle hydroformylation process.
