    Abstract: An insulated structure includes a wrapper that defines a first aperture. A liner defines a second aperture and is coupled to the wrapper. A negative pressure is maintained between the wrapper and the liner. A drainage assembly extends between the liner and the wrapper and is disposed within the first aperture and the second aperture. The drainage assembly includes a flexible body that has a plurality of flexures, first and second surfaces, and an opening that is defined between the first and second surfaces. The flexible body has at least one notch that is defined on the first surface that extends from a portion of the opening. A drainage tube extends through the opening that is defined by the flexible body and is operably coupled to the flexible body. The drainage tube includes at least one flange disposed within the at least one notch of the flexible body.

    Abstract: A freezer compartment for a refrigeration appliance includes a liner that has first and second sidewalls, a top wall, a bottom wall, and a back wall. At least one of the first and second sidewalls includes a first air-deflection surface. A door is configured to provide access to and seal the freezer compartment. A seal is positioned around a periphery of the door. A fan is operably coupled with an evaporator and is positioned within the freezer compartment at the back wall of the liner. A mullion is attached to the liner and includes a forward portion. The forward portion includes a second air-deflection surface. The fan is configured to direct air toward the first and second sidewalls and the top wall of the freezer compartment and subsequently toward the first and second air-deflection surfaces.

    Abstract: A refrigerator includes a wrapper having an opening with a front edge. A liner includes an opening and a front edge. A thermal bridge interconnects the wrapper and the liner to form a vacuum insulated cavity therebetween. The thermal bridge includes an outwardly opening channel and first and second inwardly opening channels. The front edge of wrapper is received in the first inwardly opening channel, and the front edge of the liner is received in the second inwardly opening channel. The second inwardly opening channel is inset relative to the first inwardly opening channel on the thermal bridge. A conduit is disposed within the outwardly opening channel and is configured to circulate a heated medium. The wrapper and liner are contemplated to be comprised of conductive materials, such sheet metal, while the thermal bridge is comprised of a thermally resistant material, such as a polymeric material.

    Abstract: A method for assembling a vacuum insulation assembly for an appliance is provided. The method includes steps of defining a plurality of spaces on a guide and positioning the guide flush with an inner surface of a panel. The method further includes a step of determining positions of a plurality of clips using the plurality of spaces of the guide. Another step of the method includes coupling the plurality of clips with the inner surface of the panel. The method also includes separating the guide from the panel and coupling permeable tubing with the plurality of clips.

    Abstract: A vacuum insulated structure includes a first panel and a second panel, wherein the second panel is operably coupled to the first panel to define an insulating space therebetween. An airway system is disposed within the insulating space and includes portions of porous tubing configured to draw air along lengths of the porous tubing from the insulating space during an evacuation procedure. A plurality of connectors interconnect the portions of porous tubing of the airway system to inner walls of the insulating space. The connectors may include support members that extend between the panels within the insulating space to support the vacuum insulated structure under vacuum pressure. Further, first and second panels can include rigidifying structural configurations to combat vacuum bowing during the evacuation procedure.

The front panel and the rear panel define a cavity. An aperture is defined by the rear panel. A vacuum port is positioned within the aperture and is selectively couplable with a vacuum device. A plurality of clips are operably coupled with an inner surface of the rear panel. Each of the plurality of clips defines a channel.     Abstract: A vacuum insulated refrigerator structure includes a shell having a liner and a wrapper where the shell defines an internal vacuum cavity, and a refrigerator and/or freezer compartment. The vacuum insulated refrigerator structure additionally includes an elongated pass-through defining an elongated internal space having a central portion disposed in the internal vacuum cavity. The elongated pass-through has opposite end portions that are sealingly connected to the shell, each opposite end portion having an opening that permits access to the elongated internal space from the outside of the shell. The vacuum insulated refrigerator structure also includes a vacuum core material fill positioned in the internal vacuum cavity and one or more utility lines disposed in one or more elongated internal passageways extending out of the openings at the opposite end portions of the elongated pass-through.
