Abstract:
To prevent a top panel (20) of a crown of a collapsible hat (10) from being crushed and creased, first portions (30,32) of a frame member (26) extending along a periphery of a brim (12) of the hat are folded to overlap an exterior side (22) of the top panel (20), and second portions (34,36) of the frame member (26) are folded to overlap an interior side (24) of the top panel (20). The frame portions maintain a neat appearance for the top panel (20) even after the hat (10) has been repeatedly collapsed.

Abstract:
A head covering is in the form of a visor-like cap (50) having an upper band (52) or head-encircling portion with a wire reinforcing member (53) around its upper edge and a visor (54) extending downwardly from the band (52) which includes a crescent-shaped section and a wire reinforcing member (56) embedded in the outer peripheral edge of the crescent-shaped section so as to cause the cap to assume the desired configuration when worn and when not worn to permit it to be coiled into a compact package for storage purposes.
Abstract:
A hood (10), for providing protection to a wearer's head, comprises a flexible skin (12) attached to a foldable frame (14, 16, 18, 44, 50, 52, 64) which is unfoldable to a first position where the flexible skin (12) surrounds the head of the wearer but is spaced therefrom to avoid contact with makeup, dressed hair, medical appliances and the like. The foldable frame (14, 16, 18, 44, 50, 52, 64) is foldable to a second position where the foldable frame (14, 16, 18, 44, 50, 52, 64) and the flexible skin (12) are disposed against the back of the wearer. When in the second position, the foldable frame (14, 16, 18, 44, 50, 52, 64) can be further folded to a stable reversible flexed position and stored with an zip pocket or pouch (58) with the flexible skin (12). The frame (14, 16, 18, 44, 50, 52, 64) can be permanently or removably attached to a garment (24). The frame (14, 16, 18, 44, 50, 52) can be pivoted from position to position on a hinge (20) on either side of the collar of a garment. The flexible skin (12) can be replaceable.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a hat (1) provided with internal reversible pocket (3) with zipper (3a) included in the lining (2) near one of the crown (1a) sides. Once turned inside out, the pocket (3) can contain the entire hat (1) suitably folded.
Abstract:
An item of headwear that can be converted from a folded condition to an open condition or vice versa in one step. The item of headwear (1) is a hat or a sunshade having a foldable visor where: a main portion (3) is adapted to fit around the head of a wearer; a visor portion (4) is joined to the main portion; the main portion includes two elements (8) interconnected via a hinge portion (10) for pivotal movement between an open condition (shown in the figure), and a closed condition, the visor portion is formed of a fan-type construction including an outer peripheral edge (15) and two side members (12) coupled to a respective one of the elements (8), the visor portion undergoes concertinaed movement when the elements are moved between the open and closed conditions, the hinge portion is angled with respect to a plane (B) defined by the side members (12) when in the closed condition, the movement of the elements from the closed to the open condition tensions the outer peripheral edge (15) of the visor portion and simultaneously deflects the edge portion away from the hinge portion.
Abstract:
A cap (2) has a releasible rear portion of a crown (8) which is swept forward while the crown (8) is compressed to convert the cap (2) to a sunvisor (3). A tab (16) connected to the rearward edge of the crown (8) has a fastener (22) at its distal end to connect with a fastener (24) on the visor (6) to convert the cap (2) to a sunvisor (3).
Abstract:
Abstract:
The present invention provides hats with attachment assemblies allowing them to be detachably secured in an exterior-side out configuration to a belt of medium width worn around the wearer's waist, without requiring the hats to be inverted, reversed, or folded in a complex fashion, and without any need for pockets, linings, zippers or the like. The hats may also be provided with retention members for holding the hats in a simple folded configuration when carried on a belt.
