Abstract:
Devices and methods are provided that permit efficient and selective separation of liquid biological specimens into at least two constituent components to facilitate subsequent quantitative and qualitative analysis on at least one analyte of interest in at least one of the components. The devices generally include one or more sample deposition regions supported on a base. Each sample deposition region includes a separation membrane for separating the liquid biological specimen into two different fractions. The first fraction is trapped by the separation membrane while the second fraction passes through the separation membrane and into a respective collection membrane. The separation and collection membranes are easily separable from the devices and can be utilized for further processing and analysis.
Abstract:
An apparatus for filtering water has an interface and a filtration/purification canister removably mountable onto the interface. Connecting the canister to the interface automatically opens a check valve in the interface to permit water to flow from the interface into and through the canister, and then back to and through the interface to an outlet port. Disconnecting the canister from the interface automatically closes the check valve, stopping the flow of water. The interface provides for water boiler expansion pressure relief, while guarding against any water contaminated downstream of the apparatus from backflowing into the filtration/purification canister and contaminating the portion of the filtration/purification canister downstream of the filter/conditioning/purifying medium held within the filtration/purification canister and thereby causing water exiting the outlet port of the filtration/purification canister to be contaminated.
Abstract:
A filter arrangement for the filtration of oil or an ATF fluid, in particular a transmission oil filter, has at least a first and a second filtration layer which are arranged spaced apart by at least one spacer in a filter housing to form at least one intermediate chamber. At least one magnet or a magnet arrangement for keeping iron particles out of the oil flow are provided between the first and the second filtration layers.
Abstract:
An annular drip collector is shaped and dimensioned to slidably sleeve onto the cylindrical wall of an oil filled filter cartridge, in need of replacement, while the cartridge is projecting from an engine and attached by its threaded open end. The large diameter wall of the collector forms a truncated conical trough with the adjacent cylindrical portion of the cartridge wall proximate its open end to collect oil spillage. The integral, smaller diameter cylindrical wall, or skirt, of the collector toward the closed end of the cartridge is substantially equal in inside diameter to the outside diameter of the cartridge. At least one integral, inward projecting, annular rib, tooth or flange in the lower cylindrical wall, seals the collector against the cartridge by reason of the flexible, resilient, polyethylene plastic of the collector. The outwardly flared, truncated conical, collector will nest with other collectors for shipment. An annular cap snap fits over the large diameter opening of the collector to retain oil spillage when the cartridge is horizontal, the caps also nesting for shipment.
Abstract:
A beverage filter or treatment bottle system has a bottle, lid, and a beverage improvement component such as a filter element. A filter element may be positioned to separate the interior space of the bottle into a filtered beverage compartment and an unfiltered beverage compartment. A tube passes through the filter into fluid communication with the filtered beverage compartment. The tube extends through the unfiltered beverage compartment to a nozzle in the lid of the bottle. A lid cover is fastenable onto the lid to enclose and close the nozzle. A filter cartridge may be provided. A UV sterilizer may be provided. An air bypass may be provided.
Abstract:
A filter cartridge (30) comprising: at least a filter wall (31 ) having a tubular shape and being crossed by a liquid to be filtered; at least a support plate (34, 35) fixed to an end of filter wall (31 ), at least a degassing conduit (40) fixed to the support plate (35) suitable for setting in communication an internal volume delimited by the filter wall (31 ) with a volume external thereof for outflow of air from outside to inside of the filter wall (31 ). The peculiarity of the invention consists in the fact that the degassing conduit (40) comprises a choke zone (46), a passage hole of which is configured in such a way that a pressure drop at the passage of the liquid upstream and downstream of the choke zone (46) is greater than a pressure drop in the liquid upstream and downstream of the filter wall (31 ).
Abstract:
A filter element may include a tubular element defining an internal space, and a retainer element associated with a first end of the tubular element, wherein the retainer element is configured to be coupled to a first housing. The filter element may also include a valve seat member in the internal space. The valve seat member may include a valve seat aperture configured to provide a fluid seal with a valve poppet. The filter element may further include first and second end caps associated with ends of the tubular element. The filter element may also include filter media around the tubular element, and the second end cap may be configured to provide a fluid seal between the filter element and a drain passage in a second housing, such that as the filter element is separated from the second housing, fluid flows from the filter element into the drain passage.
Abstract:
A filter candle 100 as subject of the present invention comprises: an elongated mesh pack 200 for filtering a fluid, comprising an end fitting 206 securely fixed to a filter medium 205. Further, a hollow core tube 300 is provided having a fluid permeable wall 310, the core tube being positioned within the axial opening of the mesh pack. The core tube 300 has an end flange 340 fixed to the outer end surface 312, which end flange is suitable for engaging the end fitting 206 on the mesh pack. A ring-shaped seal 500 is provided between and making contact with the outer end surface of the core tube, the end fitting and the end flange. The seal is a porous ring-shaped structure comprising a multitude of pores, which pores have an average pore size being equal or less than the filter rating of the filter medium.
Abstract:
A System (1) for the extraction of the liquid component from drupes comprising: a cylinder oil mill (2) suitable for crushing the drupes to obtain a paste from it; a plurality of mullers (3) for the homogenisation of the paste coming from the cylinder oil mill (2); a decanter (4) for the extraction of the liquid component from the homogenised paste coming from the mullers (3), where said plurality of mullers (3) is arranged in parallel, each muller (3) being suitable for individually receiving the paste coming from said cylinder oil mill (2).
