Abstract: A portable liquid/solid separator tank having a bed with a drain (28), surrounding sides (3) and a dividing wall (8). A grate (16) overlays the interior of the vessel, bed and sides and forms the dividing wall. A filter (18) overlays the grate, extending up the sides and covering the dividing wall. The separator may be vacuum loadable. The separator is filled with sludge, which separates from the liquid it contains by gravity and hydrostatic pressure, which forces the liquid through the filter. Liquid is drained from the bottom of the vessel, and the solids may be transported and then removed via a gate (10) or by dumping.

Abstract: Method to spread a pulp of which the solid fraction has a d80 lower than 100 micrometers, for its natural drying. The method is characterized in that it comprises the following consecutive steps: a) adjustment of the proportion of solid material of the pulp to a value comprised between 2 and 25 %; b) addition and mixture of a flocculant to the pulp, the dose of flocculant being comprised between 2 thirds and 98 % of the optimum dose required to flocculate such a pulp; c) spreading at the open air in a basin of which the edges are permeable and of which the bottom has a gradient lower than 5 per thousand, said spreading being carried out within a time delay from 1 to 20 minutes after the addition and mixing of said flocculant.

Abstract: A portable liquid-solid separator tank having a bed with a drain, surrounding sides and a dividing wall. A grate overlays the interior of the vessel, bed, and sides, and forms the dividing wall. A filter overlays the grate, extending up the sides and covering the top and the dividing wall. The separator, which may be vacuum loadable, is filled with a sludge which is then separated from the liquid it contains by gravity and hydrostatic pressure which force the liquid through the filter. Liquid is drained out of the bottom of the vessel and the solids are transported within the vessel. The solids are removed through a gate that may be provided in the tank, or by using a hydraulic lift system in much the same manner as a garbage truck empties a municipal dumpster. The filter is removed with the solids and usually discarded.

Abstract: A store for gravity de-watering slurry has a first space (2, 44, 54) and a second space (13, 45, 55) separated by a water-permeable wall. Water can only flow out from the second space via means, such as a weir (A, B, 62) which can be gradually lowered, such that as the solids settle the weir can be reduced and at each stage the clear top layer of water be released. Flow of slurry from the first to the second space causes progressive deposition of solids in the interstices of the wall, thus improving the filter action.
