Contaminated liquid is filtered through a conveyor-driven endless loop filter belt which surrounds a filter box submerged in a tank of the liquid to be filtered. The liquid is caused to flow through the filter belt and into the perforated upper and lower walls of the box by means of pump-induced static pressure differential. After predetermined build-up of filter cake on the filter web over the filter box inlets, control means index the filter web to bring clean web into registry with the filter box inlets. Improved means for preventing contaminated liquid from by-passing the longitudinal edges of the filter belt comprise longitudinally extending expandable tubing which can be pressurized to firmly clamp the filter belt edges against a rigid reaction surface.

PURPOSE: A cake exfoliating apparatus for a filter press is provided to smoothly implement a cake exfoliating process by downwardly moving an exfoliating unit to exfoliate cakes formed on a filtering plate. CONSTITUTION: A cake exfoliating apparatus for a filter press includes a plurality of recessed plates(40) and membrane plates. The recessed plates and the membrane plates are arranged to dehydrate slurry and to form cakes. The front sides and the rear sides of the recessed plates are plane. Groove parts are formed on the front sides and the rear sides of the membrane plates and receive slurry. An exfoliating unit is arranged at the opposite side of the recessed plates. The exfoliating unit exfoliates and drops the cakes. The exfoliating unit includes a driving part(70), an elevating frame(63), and an exfoliating part(80). The exfoliating part includes a scraper(83). The scraper exfoliates the cakes formed on the recessed plates.

PURPOSE: A polymer filtering filter cartridge capable of replacing filtering material is provided which recycles boss, end cap and perforated pipe except the filtering material in constructing the polymer filtering filter cartridge. CONSTITUTION: In a polymer filtering filter cartridge comprising a filtering material of filter(12) for filtering impurities contained in reactant, a perforated pipe(13) for forming a framework of the polymer filtering filter cartridge, an end cap(11) installed at a front end of the perforated pipe, and a boss(14) installed at an end of the end cap, the polymer filtering filter cartridge capable of replacing filtering material is characterized in that a sealing member(15) is inserted into the depressed grooves by forming depressed grooves(11a,14a) circumferentially on the outer circumferential surface of the end cap and boss, and the filtering material and the sealing member are bonded to each other by pressing the filtering material of the filter positioned at an upper part of the depressed grooves, wherein the sealing member comprises metal fiber, Cu, Al or a mixture thereof, and wherein a pressure ring is formed on a bonded region of the filtering material and the sealing member.

The filter cartridge includes a shell housing defining a first housing end, a second housing end, and a housing sidewall extending between the first housing end and the second housing end. The filter cartridge further includes a filter element received within the shell housing and removably coupled to the shell housing. The filter element includes a media pack and an endplate. The media pack is configured to filter matter from a fluid flowing therethrough. The endplate is coupled to an end of the media pack. The endplate includes an expansible scaling member extending axially away from the endplate in a direction opposite to the media pack and having a compliant portion. The expansible sealing member is configured to expand in diameter when the expansible sealing member engages the shell housing.
