SOLUTION: There is provided a method of manufacturing a cooling plate that comprises: a cooling plate body 2; a groove 3 which is opened and formed on the surface 2a of the cooling plate body 2; a lid member 4 which is arranged so as to block the opening of the groove 3 and which is joined to the cooling plate body 2 by friction stir welding; and a cooling medium passage 1 which has a cross section defined by the groove 3 and the entire rear face 4c of the lid member 4.     Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve problems associated with formation of stir-welded T-joints between thin walled ribs and skin sheets. SOLUTION: A method for stir-welding T-joints comprises a step of assembling first and second members (20, 22) and a step of stir-welding them. The first member has a sheet portion (24) of material and the second member has a sheet portion (40) of material and a rib (38) provided on the sheet portion. One of the first member and second member has a tooling portion surrounding the sheet portion of the member. The rib is stir-welded to the sheet portion of the first member in such a state that an edge margin (54) of the rib is positioned between restraining surfaces (37) of the first member. The first and second members are secured to a stir-welding apparatus via the tooling portion while the stir-welding is performed.
