Abstract:
An envelope machine having a roller assembly with a groove in the roller and a ring assembly removably mounted in the groove. The ring assembly has a pair of half-rings segments removably mounted in the groove, each of which are adapted to mesh and interfit with each other to form the ring assembly. The ring assembly lies below the surface of the roller and each ring segment has a holding notch at one end and a key assembly at the other end, with the holding notch of one ring segment adapted to interfit and mesh with the key assembly of another ring segment.
Abstract:
A paperboard container of generally semi-rigid construction and formed from a unitary blank of paperboard folded in the general shape of a U. The interior surface of the container is coated with a thermoplastic polymer barrier layer, the container having a manually openable, normally closed pour spout at one upper edge portion, and also having a recessed or raised bottom. The container is particularly adapted for packaging granular, dry material such as corn flakes, pretzels, and the like. Due to its construction and the thermoplastic barrier layer, the usual inner pouch which contains dry cereal is omitted, thereby effecting savings in both material and in assembly of the final package. In one embodiment, an opening is provided for carrying the package, the opening located at the top of the container. In another embodiment one side wall of the panel is provided with an extension to serve as a reclosure flap.
Abstract:
An apparatus for the making of container jackets from flat cardboard or plastic blanks. The blank is folded around a core by means of pivoted fingers which are moved toward the core while ends of the fingers are guided in guide passages to produce pivoting of the fingers. The fingers pivot such that blank-engaging ends of the fingers fold the blank around the core. The slide guides are mounted for pivotable movement simultaneously with the movement of the fingers toward the core, whereby the movement of the fingers can be adapted to cores of different diameter by changing the distance of movement of the carrier, i.e., the same fingers and slide guides can be used with an infinite number of core diameters.
Abstract:
An integral box component for a container including paperboard center and side sheets spaced apart and secured to a primary base sheet of paperboard and covered with bottom and top layers of paper wrap material to seal the paperboard sheets against moisture. The method comprises forming the center and side sheets and securing them to the primary base sheet and then securing the top and bottom wrapping papers thereto. Other auxiliary steps are employed to form a completed box component.
Abstract:
There is provided an improvement to the lock and/or release systems, associated in structure and operation to the rests of circular blades or creasers, for cutters or creasing machines to be used in the field of paper and cardboard manufacturing, comprising in a structural operative unit, which includes at least a rest co-operating with sliding and traverse means, guides for the traverse of each unit along a bearing beam, each unit comprising at least a circular blade or creaser and additionally including a lowering and lifting device for the blade or creaser and selective lock or release device for said rest on the beam, wherein the lowering and lifting device and lock or release device are coordinated and synchronized in such a way that the lowering and lifting movements coincide with the activation of the lock and, respectively, the release thereof.
Abstract:
A carton blank folding and gluing system having a feeder unit, a variety of units, a gluing unit, a stacking unit and belts for continuously conveying carton blanks to the units. The carton blanks are of various types and sizes. The system operates to move only the attachments required for folding or gluing the carton blank to predetermined positions in the units and to retract attachments not required for folding or gluing the carton blank. A control device is provided, in which the predetermined positions of all of the attachments required for folding or gluing the carton blank are automatically determined, stored and outputted by receiving a signal representative of the type of carton blank and signals representative of the dimensions of particular parts of the carton blank.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a machine for erecting cardboard or the like into packaging articles having single or multiple ribs derived from glued folds.
