Abstract:
The present invention relates to a regenerated cellulose based sponge material with an inner viscose fibre reinforcement having a staple fibre length of 5-50 mm and impregnated with a biocide agent. Also disclosed is a regenerated cellulose based sponge material with an inner cotton fibre reinforcement having a staple fibre length of 5-50 mm and impregnated with a biocide agent.
Abstract:
The invention provides the use of oxidized cellulose, preferably oxidized regenerated cellulose (ORC), and complexes thereof with structural proteins such as collagen, for the preparation of wound dressings for the treatment of chronic wounds. Preferably, the dressing is a knitted, woven or nonwoven fabric of ORC suitable for application directly to the surface of a wound as a wound dressing, or a semi-solid ointment for topical application containing dispersed ORC fibers or powder, or a collagen/ORC sponge. Preferably, the chronic wound is a venous ulcer, a decubitis ulcer or a diabetic ulcer.
Abstract:
Abstract:
A cellulose composite composition including hydrophobic wax, carboxy containing anionic polymer, and cellulose. The composite composition is formed by the coagulation, regeneration and drying of a mixture consisting of hydrophobic wax emulsion, carboxy containing anionic polymer emulsion, and viscose. The composite has a hydrophobic surface with reduced adhesion to hydrophilic surfaces when compared with regenerated cellulose alone or when compared with cellulose including paraffin wax alone or cellulose including carboxy containing anionic polymer alone. The composition is thus a synergistic cellulose containing composition having a lower adhesion to a hydrophilic surface than cellulose with or without the other individual components of the composition. The composition is prepared by precipitation (coagulation and/or regeneration) from a mixture comprising hydrophobic wax emulsion, anionic polymer emulsion and viscose. The regenerated product is then dried to obtain a composite material having a hydrophobic surface.
Abstract:
The invention concerns a method for treating, in particular for roughening, the surface of moulded articles of cellulose hydrate by allowing one or more cellulases to act on the surface, and then inactivating them permanently. The tubular sheeting thus modified is particularly suitable for wrappers for food, specifically for sausage skins.
Abstract:
The moulding, especially a fibre or foil, of cellulose regenerated by the amino-oxide process, is characterized in that the cellulose contains 0.02 to 30 % mass of a polyalkylene imine derivative. Besides the stabilisation of the moulding compound, the mouldings/fibres exhibit improved properties like anion exchange capacity, fungistatic properties and improved hydroblast resistance.
Abstract:
Cellulose is dissolved in an ionic liquid without derivatization, and is regenerated in a range of structural forms without requiring the use of harmful or volatile organic solvents. Cellulose solubility and the solution properties can be controlled by the selection of the ionic liquid constituents, with small cations and halide or pseudohalide anions favoring solution.
Abstract:
The invention provides sterile compositions comprising a complex of a therapeutic peptide and a polysaccharide selected from the group consisting of cellulose derivatives, chitin, chitosans, galactomannans, and mixtures thereof, wherein the complex has been sterilised with ionising radiation. The presence of the polysaccharides surprisingly stabilizes therapeutic peptides against decomposition under ionising conditions, especially under gamma-irradiation. Processes for the preparation of the sterile compositions and processes for the preparation of sterile therapeutic peptides are also claimed.
