Abstract: Provided is a separator including a first layer which consists of a porous polyolefin and a secondary battery utilizing the separator. A first layer exhibits a minimum height equal to or more than 50 cm and equal to or less than 150 cm when a ball having a diameter of 14.3 mm and a weight of 11.9 g located over the first layer is allowed to free fall causing a split in the first layer. A tearing strength of the first layer in a width direction, measured with an Elmendorf tearing method, is equal to or more than 1.5 mN/μm. A tensile elongation of the first layer is equal to or longer than 0.5 mm until a load decreases to 25% of a maximum load in a load-elongation curve in machine direction measured by a rectangular tearing method.

Abstract: A composition for use in jacketing or insulation materials is disclosed, the composition comprising from 42 to 54 percent by weight of a halogen-free flame retardant, from 26 to 46 percent by weight of an ethylene alkyl acrylate copolymer, such as ethylene ethyl acrylate, optionally from 0 to 15 percent by weight of an ethylene-based polymer, optionally from 0 to 12 percent by weight of a coupling agent, and optionally from 0 to 1 percent by weight of an antioxidant. A cable insulation layer, a cable protective outer jacket, a cable core sheath, and cable comprising the jacketing material composition are also disclosed. Components comprising the composition exhibit balanced and improved melt rheological, tensile, and flame-retardant properties.

Abstract: The present invention discloses a biodegradable polyester composition, wherein based on a total weight of the biodegradable polyester composition, a weight content of glycidyl methacrylate is 0.05 ppm-10 ppm. In the present invention, by adding a trace amount of glycidyl methacrylate into a chosen formula of the biodegradable polyester composition and controlling the weight content of glycidyl methacrylate which finally remains in the biodegradable polyester composition as 0.05 ppm-10 ppm, a compatibility between aliphatic-aromatic polyester and polylactic acid in the biodegradable polyester composition can be greatly enhanced, which enables the biodegradable polyester composition to have excellent surface property of film material, and no fisheye occurs on the film material because of a fluctuation of processing technique.

Abstract: This invention discloses a transparent standalone resin or masterbatch concentrate composition and manufacturing method of transforming commercial transparent grade base thermoplastics into anti-biofouling resins through extrusion or any similar hot melt mixing processes. The re-compound solids enable a number of product reforming processes, including but not limited to thermoforming, profile extrusion, injection molding, blow molding, blow filming, film casting, and spinning into articles of different shapes and geometries or overmolding on plastic substrates that can resist surface adsorption of microbes, mammalian cells, proteins, peptides, nucleic acids, steroids and other cellular constituents after solidification. The articles formed thereof additionally exhibit mechanical reinforcement and no leaching while retain the optical clarity of the base thermoplastics in the same product form as quantified in terms of the light transmittance and haze.
