The invention provides a cutting and lubricating composition with abrasive particles for cutting hard and brittle workpieces with a wire saw or other cutting or grinding tool. The composition provides electrostatic and steric repulsion between the abrasive particles to maintain the particles in suspension without forming hard settled cakes from suspension "fall-out".

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an additive for engine oil excellent in effect of improving the lubrication performance of the engine oil, and the engine oil added with such the additive for the engine oil, and also a method for adding the additive for improving the lubrication performance of the engine oil. SOLUTION: The additive for the engine oil is constituted by blending a plurality of many sided plate-formed silver crystalline particles having a 300 to 500 nm mean length. Also, the engine oil is constituted by blending base oil with the additive for the engine oil. Further, the method for adding the additive to the engine oil includes adding the plurality of many sided plate-formed silver crystalline particles having the 300 to 500 nm length to the engine oil, as the additive. A material having improved hardness characteristics and bearing, lower friction coefficient and increased service life in clusters of sliding friction contains powder of copper, iron, phosphorus, graphite, dust of disulphide of molybdenum and steel substrate made out of low carbohydrate steel. The material has a bimetal structure with granules inserted in a matrix. The material of the invention is especially useful in the machine-building industry, particularly for the production of blocks for units of sliding friction in machines, mechanisms and equipment.
