A light metal piston for an engine or compressor has two sheet steel inserts. Each insert has two pairs of elongated bands extending circumferentially away from a gudgeon pin boss. The bands nearer the crown end of the piston skirt are longer than those nearer the open end of the skirt, and preferably are also wider, so as to exert greater thermal expansion control nearer the crown end of the skirt than nearer the open end.

Die Erfindung betrifft eine Radialkolbenpumpe (1) zur Kraftstoffhochdruckerzeugung bei Kraftstoffeinspritzsystemen von Brennkraftmaschinen, insbesondere bei einem Common-Rail-Einspritzsystem, mit einer in einem Pumpengehäuse (2) gelagerten Antriebswelle (4) mit einem exzentrischen Wellenabschnitt (6), auf welchem eine Laufrolle (8) gelagert ist, und mit vorzugsweise mehreren bezüglich der Antriebswelle (4) radial in einem jeweiligen Zylinder (14) angeordneten Kolben (16), an deren der Laufrolle (8) zugewandten Enden jeweils eine Kolbenfussplatte (18) angeordnet ist, welche die Umfangsfläche (10, 12) der Laufrolle (8) kontaktiert. Die Erfindung sieht vor, dass zumindest ein Teil der Laufrolle (8), insbesondere wenigstens ein Teil der Umfangsfläche (10, 12) der Laufrolle (8) aus einem verschleissfesten Material, nämlich aus Hartmetall, aus einem Feingussmaterial, aus einem gegossen karbidischen Werkstoff, aus einem gesinterten Werkzeugstahl oder aus einem Nitrierstahl besteht.

A piston (20) for an internal combustion engine includes an upper crown (22) and a lower crown (24) that are each fabricated using a same strong material, such as steel and fastened together using a plurality of fasteners (50). The piston (20) provides increased strength resulting in improved design flexibility and smaller sized engines that produce the same amount of power. Piston ring grooves (100, 102, 104) are also provided in either one or both of the upper and lower crowns (22, 24) which control piston combustion height. A deeper combustion bowl (72) is also available with the piston (20).

Present day diesel engines having aluminum piston assemblies are limited to combustion chamber pressures of approximately 12,410 kPa (1,800 psi) whereas the desire is the increase such pressures up to the 15,170 kPa (2,200 psi) range. To reach such levels the instant piston assembly includes a steel piston member having an upper cylindrical portion defining a top surface, a depending tubular wall and an annular cooling recess having one or more machined surfaces or revolution about a central axis. The cooling recess is located beneath the top surface and juxtaposed to the top ring groove for removing heat away therefrom in use. The piston member is preferably forged and subsequently machined to precisely controllable dimensions. Moreover, the piston assembly is preferably of the articulated type and includes a forged aluminum piston skirt connected to the piston member through a common wrist pin.

Methods of using such corrosion resistant alloys that provide a fluid end that has a corrosion resistant alloy having a fatigue limit greater than or equal to the tensile stress on the fluid end at maximum working pressure in the fluid end for an aqueous-based fluid; installing the fluid end in a well service pump; and pumping the aqueous-based fluid through the fluid end.

A hydraulic linear actuator system known as the “Dynaco Stepper Pump Hydraulics System” is which is an electrically driven hydraulic pump system made of durable materials for use in an electronically controllable hydraulic system comprised of: (a) an electrically driven stepper motor; (b) a hydraulic pump to pressurize a hydraulic fluid; (c) a means to connect the stepper motor to the hydraulic pump; (d) a pressurized reservoir for a quantity of hydraulic fluid; (e) a means to supply pressurized fluid to a hydraulic actuator; (f) the hydraulic actuator with a means to provide linear motion to an object; (g) the means to provide linear motion to an object; (h) a means to return lowered pressurized fluid to the reservoir. An alternative embodiment is further comprised of a controller with a series of feedback signals.

The semispherical shoe 4 is formed of a ferrous material, and the swash plate 3 is manufactured using high-strength brass as a material.On a sliding surface 4A of the shoe 4, a large number of minute annular expandingly projecting parts 7′ are formed by laser hardening, and a lubricating oil passage 10′ consisting of a reticular concave part is also formed.Thereby, the sliding device 1 having excellent seizure resistance as compared with the conventional sliding device can be provided.
