The technology includes a method for enabling routing of data on a network based on a portion of data accessed from a non-network enabled device. The method includes detecting a non-network enabled device locally coupled to a first computer system, the first computer system coupled to the network. The method further includes enabling routing of data through the non-network enabled device to a second computer system coupled to the network by using the first computer system as a communication interface between the non-network enabled device and the second computer system wherein the second computer system is automatically identified based on recognizing a portion of the data as a routing destination.

The invention relates to a method for receiving a fax, where according to the invention an incoming fax call is transferred to an Internet operator (200) for reception. In the inventive solution, the Internet operator (200) is arranged to save the faxes directed from the user's (400) telephone subscription (100) in his or her personal electronic mailbox (300). Faxes in the user's mailbox (300) may be processed into a plurality of information storage formats either by the Internet operator (200) or by the user (400) or someone authorized by the user. In processing the faxes both the user (400) and the person authorized by the user, such as a secretary, may use services offered by the Internet operator (200). Processed or unprocessed faxes may be re-sent to various recipients by the Internet operator (200) or by the user (400) and/or someone authorized by the user via a telephone network (150) or Internet (500).

A first facsimile machine (110) sends its output to a first interface apparatus (120) for conversion to a format that may be transmitted over a packet-switched digital communication network. 본 발명은 모바일을 이용한 콘텐츠 제공 시스템 및 그 방법에 관한 것으로서, 더욱 상세하게는, 콘텐츠를 영상으로 출력하는 거리설치단말기 및 출력되는 콘텐츠 중 사용자에 의해 선택된 콘텐츠에 대한 사운드를 출력하는 휴대단말기를 포함하는 모바일을 이용한 콘텐츠 제공 시스템 및 그 방법에 관한 것이다. 본 발명에 의하면, 출력되고 있는 콘텐츠 영상에 부합하는 사운드를 각 사용자가 소지하는 휴대단말기로 제공함으로써, 공공장소에서 복수의 사용자가 출력되고 있는 콘텐츠 영상과 함께 사운드를 개별적으로 청취할 수 있다.
Abstract:
A method for transmitting the DNC signals to the fax machine ensured by T.38 gateway is disclosed. When the gateway is used as a tranmitting gateway: the gateway packs the DNC signals detected on the TDM side into IFP packages and transmits the packages to the IP side; then the gateway transmits the fax end event to the softswitch after a predetermined delay time so as to ensure the DCN signals are intactly transmitted to the receiving fax machine; after the fax end event is received, the softswitch sends the state switching command so that the two gateways switch back to the speech state. When the gateway is used as a receiving gateway: the gateway modulated the DCN signals which are detected on the IP side and transmits the modulated DCN signals to the receiving fax machine; if the switching command is received from the softswitch during the period of transmitting the DCN signals, then the switching process is delayed; if the gateway has not yet received the switching command from the softswitch after the transmission of the DCN signals is finished, the gateway initiatively sends the fax end event to the softswitch. The method has the advantages as follows: the fax end event is reliably detected; the DCN signals are reliably transmitted to the terminal fax machine; and the gateway is compatible with the present gateway.

The present invention provides a method of sending and receiving facsimile communications, comprising: a) providing a local area network comprising a plurality of user personal computer terminals (10) and a printer (48); b) providing a router (14) adapted to connect the local area network to the Internet; c) providing a fax controller connected to the local area network and comprising: i) a fax modem (30) connected to a public telephone line; ii) a scanner (26); iii) a computer (20) programmed with fax telecommunications software provided with an account number and password for an Internet fax service, and scanning and billing software; d) downloading the fax telecommunications software to one of the user terminals; e) preparing a fax communication at the user terminal, including a billing code; f) sending the fax communication through the fax modem (30) if the fax communication is to a local, and through the Internet router (14) to the Internet facsimile service if the fax communication is to a long distance number; g) storing on the fax controller billing information respecting the fax communication, including the billing code, the recipient fax number and the number of pages sent.

The present invention is directed to an apparatus and process for enabling and selecting Internet fax transmission when a fax recipient (36) is equipped to receive Internet (24) faxes. The present invention includes a processor (62) programmed to search a local database maintained in a storage element (66) to determine if the fax recipient (36) is equipped to receive an Internet fax. The processor (62) is also programmed to search a central database maintained at a central management station (50) to determine if the fax recipient (36) is equipped to receive an Internet fax. If the fax recipient if found in either database (66 or 50), the fax is packaged for transmission over the Internet (24) and transmitted to the recipient (36). If the fax recipient is not found in either of the databases (66 or 50), the fax is packaged for transmission over the public telephone network (28) and transmitted to the recipient (36).
