    Abstract: The installation has a container (7) which contains a mixed-bed resin (6). There are further provided on the container (7): a raw-water connection (4), a distribution appliance (1) for alkali, a distribution appliance (3) for acid, an outflow appliance (2) for excess or spent regenerants, and an outflow appliance (5) for the clean water. Said clean water outflow appliance (5) is situated in the mixed-bed resin (6), specifically at least 30 mm above the acid distribution appliance (3). In operation, while the resins are being regenerated and while the resins are being flushed with raw water, the outflowing stream of acid and alkali, and of clean water, respectively, are hydraulically separated from one another, i.e. they are passed through separate appliances (2 or 5). As a result, the clean water does not mix with the regenerant. After regeneration, demineralised water is generated at once.

    Abstract: A method for regenerating a weak base anion exchanger which comprises passing a regenerating chemical in an upward direction through a granular resinous mass of an exchanger, thereupon displacing the chemical and rinsing the mass with water. The regenerating chemical is a lime slurry having a concentration of 1 to 5% by weight, which is both supplied to and withdrawn from the granular mass in an evenly distributed flow with a flow rate of at least 10 m3, per hour, per m3 resin material (m3/h/m3), while the granular mass is in a compacted state.
