Abstract: This invention relates to lateral transfer retroreflectors having a tubular member (130) comprised of a material having dimensions which are relatively stable with respect to temperature. The retroreflector is further comprised of a roof mirror (10) having two reflective surfaces (14, 32) mounted to one end of the tubular member at three coplanar mounting surfaces of the roof mirror. Mounted on the opposite end of the tubular member is a mirror panel (110) having a reflective surface (112) which is perpendicular to both of the reflective surfaces of the roof mirror. The tubular member (130) has openings (142, 146) for light to pass through and thereby reflect off of the roof mirror (10) and the mirror panel (110). One of the openings increases the effective aperture of the lateral transfer retroreflector.

Abstract: An anti-dazzle mirror used as a mirror such as a rear-view mirror, a side mirror, etc., is adapted to prevent dazzle by the use of an electro-optical element which can electrically control the transmission of light. The anti-dazzle mirror is constituted by two parts: a part which includes at least the lower half of the mirror and acts as a dazzle-preventing part which blocks off glare; and the rest is a non dazzle-preventing part which does not block glare. By such a construction, the rays of light from the headlights of a following car when drivig at night are blocked by the dazzle-preventing part, so that it is possible to prevent the driver being dazzled. Further, since the shape of the following car is clearly reflected, even when glare is blocked, by the non dazzle-preventing part constituted by the rest of the mirror, it is possible to clearly see the reflected image of the following car.

Abstract: Reflex devices preferably mounted on photographic or cinematographic apparatus with retractable mirrors which may be rotating, oscillating or moving are the more adapted to balancing because as they are lighter. The decrease in weight is achieved by using pure carbon, preferably in the form of vitrified carbon, for the support material of the mirror. The microscopic pores opened during the fine machining of the polished surface are eliminated by an additional vacuum treatment during manufacturing of the intermediate product composed of tridimensional cross link synthetic resine.
