    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an energy converter capable of efficiently converting heat energy such as sun light or the like to electric energy. SOLUTION: The energy converter 1 includes a vacuum vessel 2, an electron emission electrode 3, an electron acceleration electrode 4, an electron acceleration power source 5 and an electron collection electrode 6. The electron collection electrode 6 comprises an emission electrode side electrode plate 7 provided with an electron passage through hole 7a and closer to the electron emission electrode 3, and an acceleration electrode side electrode plate provided with the electron passage through hole and closer to the electron acceleration electrode 4.     Abstract: PURPOSE: To obtain a small, lightweight and high output alkaline metal thermoelectric conversion module by dividing a tube made of BASE (β"-alumina solid electrolyte) into a plurality of cells having splitting means, lining the tube made of BASE with wick and supplying liquid sodium through a vapor carrier thereof. CONSTITUTION: The alkaline metal thermoelectric converter module 11 has an inner section 17 of high pressure tubular member 15, composed of an ion conductor (β"-alumina solid electrolyte) 10, and located around the inner section 17 containing liquid sodium 12 touching the inner surface thereof. A porous electrode 18 transmitting electrons 20 and passing sodium ions 16 is provided on the outer surface of the ion conductor 10 so that recoupling takes place in low pressure region. Furthermore, means 42 for carrying liquid sodium 12 to the ion conductor 10 of the tubular member 15 is provided. A dividing means 44 divides the member 15 into first and second cells 46a, 46b in order to transmit the electrons 20 to a first conduction means 22a.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To neutralize space charge by utilizing an ionization phenomenon due to high frequency discharge and controlling the quantity of ions produced by this phenomenon according to a high frequency voltage, frequency and sealed gas pressure. CONSTITUTION:A high frequency voltage is applied from a high frequency power source 14 through a coupling condenser 15 between an emitter 11 and a collector 12. A continuous ionization phenomenon is generated between the emitter 11 and the collector 12 by utilizing a high frequency discharge caused by this phenomenon. The quantity of generated ions by this phenomenon is optimized according to a high frequency voltage, frequency and sealed gas pressure, thereby neutralizing the space charge. In this manner, the output of the thermionic geneneration can be increased, and the efficient can be improved.
