Abstract:
A multimode audio reproduction device is disclosed that comprises first and second audio reproduction modules coupled by a support structure. The first and second audio reproduction modules are movable between two configurations. In the first configuration the audio reproduction device serves as a loudspeaker while in the second configuration the audio reproduction device serves as a headphone. A second embodiment of the present invention discloses a portable audio reproduction module that acts as a headset and a loudspeaker.
Abstract:
A power supply (Vl) for an electrical device comprising a transformer (Xl) having primary and secondary windings. The primary winding is connectable to an AC voltage supply and circuitry on the secondary side is arranged to provide a DC output voltage for the electrical device. The power supply also comprises a switch (111 - transistors Ql & Q2) between the primary winding of the transformer and the AC supply, and a rectifier (Diode D6) for rectifying the AC voltage. The switch is arranged to switch on at some point as the rectified AC voltage increases, once it has reached a non-zero value, thereby providing a current flow through the primary winding and hence through the secondary winding when the switch (111 - transistors Ql & Q2) is switched off. The switch is further arranged to switch off before the rectified AC voltage starts to increase again.
Abstract:
A wireless pointing device includes a push button switch, an optical sensor circuit, and a processor. The processor is configured to transmit to the optical sensor circuit a logic high signal in response to depression of the push button switch for a period greater than or equal to the predetermined first period of time and to transmit a logic low signal in response to depression of the push button switch for a period less than the predetermined first period. The optical sensor circuit responds to the logic high signal by entering a power saving mode wherein an optical sensor in the optical sensor circuit is decoupled from a power source.
Abstract:
An amplifier apparatus comprises a first amplifier arranged to receive an input signal and a second amplifier arranged to receive a proportion of the input signal. A first potential divider is arranged to receive the output signal of the second amplifier and to feed a proportion of the output signal to the first amplifier. The first amplifier is arranged to subtract the proportion of the output signal of the second amplifier from the input signal to produce a difference signal for amplification by the first amplifier. There is also disclosed a method of amplifying a signal.
Abstract:
A portable apparatus (10) for multiple alerts, the apparatus comprising a processor operatively connected to a display (12), at least one input (16) for enabling alert times to be determined by a user, an alert output, and a clock system (36) for providing the multiple alerts. Each alert is at a different time. The multiple alerts are output by the alert output to alert a user as to at least one action required by the user. The alert output may be an audible alert (34), a visual alert on a display of the apparatus, and/or a vibrating alert. The multiple alerts are at times that are from a predetermined list, pre-set, or by user input.
Abstract:
A pouch with an integrated stand for releasably holding therein an electronic device, the pouch comprising a body (14) having a longitudinally extending upper strap(20) and a longitudinally extending lower strap(22); side (24) at each end of the pouch and extending between the upper strap(20) and the lower strap (22); a rear wall (42) extending between the sides; a cover hingedly connected to the rear wall and moveable between a first position closing the pouch, and a plurality of open positions; the plurality of open positions comprising a first position where the cover supports the body in a first orientation and a second position wherein the cover supports the body in a second orientation.
Abstract:
An amplifier apparatus includes a comparator (20) which compares an incoming signal (19) with a number of reference potentials. A switching stage (22) is controlled by the output of the comparator (20) and is arranged to select a voltage level to be applied to one side of a load (24), such as a loudspeaker system. An amplifier/subtractor (21) is included to subtract from the incoming signal (19) a percentage of the selected voltage level applied to the load. The amplifier/subtractor (21) amplifies the incoming signal (19) minus the percentage of the selected voltage level and applies it to a second side of the load (24). Also disclosed is a method for amplifying a signal.
Abstract:
Apparatus for touch scrolling, the apparatus comprising a scrolling activator (22) for scrolling activation by a finger of a user, the scrolling activator (22) comprising a first end zone (26) adjacent a first end of the scrolling activator for fast scrolling in a first scrolling direction, a second end zone (28) adjacent a second end of the scrolling activator for fast scrolling in a second scrolling direction and a normal zone (30) for normal scrolling.
Abstract:
