Abstract: An electrical connector includes a first connector housing having a cavity aligned along a mating axis and configured to receive an electrical terminal. The first connector housing has a first holding means protruding outwardly from an outer surface of the first connector housing. The electrical connector also includes a second connector housing surrounding the first connector housing along the mating axis. The second connector housing has a second holding means protruding inwardly from an inner surface of the second connector housing. The first holding means includes a first blocking surface and the second holding means includes a second blocking surface. The first blocking surface is arranged opposite the second blocking surface. The first and second holding means cooperate with each other to press the first blocking surface to the second blocking surface while holding the first and second connector housings tightly together.

Abstract: An electrical connector includes a connector housing configured to receive a corresponding mating connector, a cable guide cover attached to the connector housing, and a mate assist system for assisting in mating to the corresponding mating connector. The mate assist system includes a lever moveable to assembly, open, and closed positions. The lever includes gear means connected with a slider in the connector housing. The lever moves the slider to a first, second, and third position. The lever is releasable and attachable to the connector housing only in the assembly position. The cable guide cover is attachable to the connector housing only when the lever is in the closed position. The slider has a releasing means cooperating with a releasing means of the corresponding mating connector to unblock the slider while mating and enabling movement of the lever to the closed position, thereby moving the slider to the third position.

Abstract: The disclosure relates to a brazing method for joining substrates, in particular where one of the substrates is difficult to wet with molten braze material. The method includes formation of a porous metal layer on a first substrate to assist wetting of the first substrate with a molten braze metal, which in turn permits joining of the first substrate with a second substrate via a braze metal later in an assembled brazed joint. Ceramic substrates can be particularly difficult to wet with molten braze metals, and the disclosed method can be used to join a ceramic substrate to another substrate. The brazed joint can be incorporated into a solid-oxide fuel cell, for example as a stack component thereof, in particular when the first substrate is a ceramic substrate and the joined substrate is a metallic substrate.

Abstract: An electrical power supply device configured to interface with a start-stop controller within a vehicle includes a DC-DC power convertor receiving an input voltage and producing a first output voltage or a second output voltage that is less than the first output voltage and a device controller in communication with the DC-DC power convertor. The device controller has one or more processors and memory. The memory includes instructions which causes the device controller to command the DC-DC power convertor to output the first output voltage when the device controller receives a run signal from the start-stop controller or detects that the input voltage is above a voltage threshold or output the second output voltage when the device controller receives a stop signal from the start-stop controller or detects that the input voltage is below a voltage threshold. A method of operating the electrical power supply device is also presented.

Abstract: An illustrative example object detection system includes a sensor having a field of view. The sensor is configured to emit radiation and to detect at least some of the radiation reflected by an object within the field of view. A panel in the field of view allows the radiation to pass through the panel. The panel being is configured to be set in a fixed position relative to a vehicle coordinate system. A plurality of reflective alignment markers are situated on the panel in the field of view. The reflective alignment markers reflect radiation emitted by the sensor back toward the sensor. A processor is configured to determine an alignment of the sensor with the vehicle coordinate system based on an indication from the sensor regarding radiation reflected by the reflective alignment markers and detected by the sensor.

Abstract: A method of nondestructive testing of a joint between an electrical terminal and a wire cable that is bonded to the electrical terminal is presented herein. This method includes the steps of providing an ultrasonic transducer in electrical communication with an electrical signal generator and signal analyzer, placing the transducer in ultrasonic communication with the joint, transmitting a first ultrasonic signal via stimulation of the transducer by a first electrical signal having a first frequency from the signal generator, receiving a first reflected signal of the first ultrasonic signal via the ultrasonic transducer, transmitting a second ultrasonic signal via stimulation of the transducer by a second electrical signal having a second frequency different than the first frequency from the signal generator, receiving a second reflected signal of the second ultrasonic signal via the transducer, and determining the quality of the joint by analyzing the first and second reflected signals.

Abstract: A connector-assembly includes electrical-terminals, a connector-housing, and a primary-lock-reinforcement device. The electrical-terminals are configured to mate with corresponding electrical-terminals along a mating-axis of the connector-assembly. The connector-housing is configured to retain the electrical-terminals within terminal-cavities defined by a terminal-tower disposed within the connector-housing. The primary-lock-reinforcement device is configured to slideably engage the terminal-tower and is moveable from a pre-stage position to a full-stage position. The primary-lock-reinforcement device has a base and a skirt defining a cavity having a flexible-beam disposed within and terminating at a tip. The tip engages a stop in the connector-housing in the pre-stage position inhibiting a movement of the primary-lock-reinforcement device along the mating-axis. When the electrical-terminals are fully seated into the terminal-cavities, the electrical-terminals disengage the tip from the stop enabling the primary-lock-reinforcement device to move from the pre-stage position to the full-stage position.
