Abstract:
Experiments have been conducted which demonstrate that gel optical density is a linear function of the fibrin fiber mass/length ratio (.mu.) and that the slope of the linear function is dependent on the concentration of fibrinogen in the sample. Once the linear function is known, knowledge of a gel optical density at one wavelength is adequate to determine .mu.. Such measurements allow quantitative monitoring of fibrin structure, and are clinically relevant.
Abstract:
Systems and methods are disclosed for employing usage-optimized tables with a computer database system. In one embodiment, the database system stores create, update, and delete database operations in the usage-optimized table. The create, update, and delete database operations remain in the usage-optimized table until a flush condition is reached. When the flush condition is reached, the create, update, and delete operations are transferred to their corresponding real tables. In embodiments, the read operation does not flush the contents of the usage-optimized table to the real table. In such embodiments, the database system modifies read operations to account for data resident on the usage-optimized tables.
Abstract:
A laser device, finder of range(s), and an inclinometer are used to figure a sound producing device's position adjustment(s). Laser beam(s) of the laser device and the inclinometer characterize direction(s) of sound produced by the sound producing device. The laser beam(s) can be one or more colors or patterns each characterizing the general direction of sound produced by the sound producing device. A stadium can have many speaker housings each including a speaker, the laser, range finder and the inclinometer. Each speaker housing is mounted on, and remotely adjustable with respect to, an structural member as to the general direction of sound emitted from the speaker housing into the area for stadium seating. The inclinometer's output can be rendered by a monitor seen by an audio engineer who also uses the laser beam's direction to make adjustments to the position of the speaker housing relative to its structural member.
Abstract:
A burner tube and door assembly for a water heater includes a burner tube and a fuel supply line in telescoping relationship to define a tube junction. The tube junction extends through the door of a water heater. One of the tube and line includes an enlarged portion. A lock ring applies a radially-directed force around a portion of the tube junction. The enlarged portion and lock ring are on opposite sides of the door to secure the door to the burner tube and fuel supply line. The enlarged portion and lock ring apply a compressive load to the door to resist rotation of the door with respect to the tube junction.
Abstract:
Enhancing crop performance using a computer coupled to a memory, including receiving a plurality of area of interest (AOI) raster files from a remote sensing device via a network, and generating at least one index raster file based on the plurality of AOI raster files. At least one yield zone is defined within the AOI based on the at least one index raster file, and a hybrid and a seed rate are determined for the hybrid for use in planting in the at least one yield zone. A planting recommendation is generated for the AOI based on the hybrid and the seed rate and is delivered to a planter, wherein the planter is configured to plant the at least one yield zone using the hybrid and the seed rate.
