    Abstract: 17,712. Stewart, R. S. Aug. 12. Current meters.- A hot-wire instrument consists of a straight non - magnetic pointer 18, connected by eyes or otherwise to two resistant wires, the ends of which are attached to four terminals placed equidistantly in a circle on a top-plate 4, so that two diametricallyopposite terminals 5, 7 are electrically connected together through one wire 11, 14, and the other terminals are similarly connected together b y the other wire 12, 13. The pointer 18 turns over a stationary dial 19 when either wire is heated by passage of current, or when the wires are both heated by unequal currents. The pointer may be steadied by weighing it, or by a central stem and a spring 24, adjustable by a pin 25. The top-plate 4 and dial 19 are supported on a stand 2, 3. The pointer may carry a mirror, for optical measurement of the deflections, and may be made short, to increase the sensitiveness of the instrument. The instrument may be used as an ampÞre meter, or as a differential or ordinary volt-meter. Testing.-The instrument is applicable as an indicator for synchronizing alternators.

Screw propellers are furnished with blades of the type shown in Fig. 1, in which the leading edge C and the leading part of the back of the blade are in a plane, so as to cut the water in one line and direction. The back of the blade is brought round to meet the trailing edge D, as shown in Fig. 1, whence sections of the blades are of triangular shape with a very obtuse apex angle. In order to produce an increased thrust, the blades are more or less eccentric with regard to the boss.

    Abstract: A miniature security camera recording to a choice of various solid state on board memories, controlled remotely by the user. In mode 1 the unit continually records images, overwriting earlier images until deactivated, providing multiple images of a period of time prior to deactivation. In mode 2 the camera records but does not overwrite images previously recorded and is automatically deactivated when the memory is full, thus providing multiple images of a period of time after activation.

    Abstract: This lifesaving floatation and breathing device comprises first and seco nd inflatable bags having similar bag volumes, and a mouthpiece communicating with both bags. A pressurized gas cylinder filled with breathable gas is mounted to one of the bags. This pressurized gas cylinder has a gas volume and a gas pressure therein. The device also has an inflator mechanism mounted thereto for transferring the breathable gas from the pressurized gas cylinder into one of the bags. One of the characteristics of the device is that the volume of each bag is a mathematical product of the gas volume inside the cylinder and a ratio of the gas pressure inside the cylinder over atmospheric pressure. Either bags can accept the full content of the cylinder at atmospheric pressure, thereby obviating the need for a pressure regulator or flow control orifice therein.
