Abstract:
The present invention relates to a device and a method for disinfection and purification of a fluid, like drinking water. The device comprises: - a fluidized bed reactor provided with a suspension of conductive particles that are capable of adsorbing contaminating elements like organisms, organic compounds and/or ions; - an anode and a cathode for providing a substantial number of particles with a charge; - means for generating an electrical and/or electromagnetic field by providing a potential difference between the anode and the cathode; and - an inlet for a fluid, possibly comprising contaminating elements, wherein the fluid is exposed in the device to the electrical and/or electromagnetic field thereby disinfecting and/or purifying the fluid.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a device comprising a first electrode compartment, the anode compartment, and a second electrode compartment, the cathode compartment, with a quantity of an anode fluid comprising an electrochemically oxidizable substrate and optional further compounds in the anode compartment, a quantity of a cathode fluid comprising an electrochemically reducible substrate and optional further compounds in the cathode compartment, and further an anode at least partially in contact with the anode fluid in the anode compartment and a cathode at least partially in contact with the cathode fluid in the cathode compartment, wherein the anode and cathode are electrically connected and on the surface of the anode and the cathode a catalyst is present for respective catalysis of the electrochemical conversion of the electrochemically oxidizable substrate via an electrochemical oxidation reaction and for catalysis of the electrochemical conversion of the electrochemically reducible substrate via an electrochemical reduction reaction, which catalyst comprises electrochemically active micro-organisms on at least one of the anode or cathode.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a method, device and system for measuring and/or treating contaminating components dissolved in a liquid in a liquid flow, such as in a water treatment, the method comprising the steps of: - carrying at least a part of the liquid from the liquid flow with contaminating components present therein into a container or a conduit; - causing precipitation of at least a part of the dissolved contaminating components, wherein solid particles are formed, and/or treating the quantity of process liquid; optionally followed by: - measuring the presence and/or the quantity of solid particles formed.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a method comprising providing a carrier, preferably a porous carrier, comprising a number of aquatic worms from the class of the Oligochaeta exhibiting a swimming motion. The method further comprises providing to the worms an escape reflex-inducing stimulus on at least one side of the carrier of, such that the worm biomass is at least partially released from the carrier. The method further comprises removing worm biomass released from the porous carrier for further processing. The invention further relates to a predation reactor suitable for applying the method according to the invention.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a method for the treatment of an aqueous waste stream, wherein: (a) an aqueous waste stream is separated into an effluent and waste sludge; and (b) the waste sludge is converted into predated waste sludge in a predation reactor, the predation reactor including a support comprising worms and the waste sludge being fed past the support comprising worms. The invention further relates to an plant in which the method may be carried out, in particular to an plant for the treatment of an aqueous waste stream that comprises a predation reactor having a support comprising worms, wherein the predation reactor has two compartments that are separated by the support comprising worms.
