Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and method for controlling the discharge of carbon dioxide (CO 2 ) diffused from a gas supply source. SOLUTION: This apparatus 10 and method comprise CO 2 absorbent beds 20 and 22 having a regenerable absorbent. Discharged gas 18 flows while passing through the CO 2 absorbent beds 20 and 22 before it is released to the atmosphere. The CO 2 absorbent beds 20 and 22 confine CO 2 contained in the discharged gas 18 to control the amount of CO 2 finally discharged to the atmosphere. At least two CO 2 absorbent beds 20 and 22 are used so that one of the CO 2 absorbent beds 20 and 22 is regenerated during an absorbing period of CO 2 from a gas flow by the other one of the CO 2 absorbent beds 20 and 22. The CO 2 absorbent beds 20 and 22 are regenerated so as to release confined CO 2 for the purpose of using the CO 2 absorbent beds 20 and 22 in other treatment or subjecting them to disposal treatment. The CO 2 absorbent beds 20 and 22 are circulated between the absorption of CO 2 and regeneration for optimizing the absorption of CO 2 . COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO

Abstract: PURPOSE: To provide a method and a device for forming a bearing race having a ceramic characteristic on a raceway track, having a metallic characteristic at a position apart from the raceway track, and having a ceramic/metal structure with a gradational composition containing no clear junction between a ceramic material and a metal material. CONSTITUTION: A device for obtaining a bearing race having desirable characteristics of a ceramic and a metal via a gradational composition of a ceramic material and a metal material is a thermal spray device 54 including a plasma spray gun 20 serving as a main body for forming a gradational structure of the ceramic and the metal. It is constituted of first and second powder feed sections 84, 82 feeding ceramic and metal powder to the gun 20 and a control unit 72 adjusting the temperature and flow of flames and the quantity of the powder. The gun 20 allows the composite sticking of the powder on a carbon mandrel 100 with a plasma spray 52, and the bearing race with the gradational composition is obtained.

Abstract: PURPOSE: To make the gas supply device of a generator light weight by making oil inside a series of oil circuits, including two devices in series flowing sequentially through the devices. CONSTITUTION: A cooling oil circuit, disposed in the stator 38 of a main generator, is directly connected to the exit opening of a supply pump 16. The pressurized oil from the supply pump 16 flows through the cooling oil circuit of the stator 38 and is directly discharged into the differential device 36 of a constant- speed drive transmitting device. Namely, the stator 38 of a main generator is directly connected to a differential device 36 by an oil circuit 52, so that oil flows sequentially through the stator 38 and the differential device 36 and is discharged into an oil storage 12. By using the oil circuit 52, the capacity of a drainage pump 14 and the oil storage 12 is reduced. Accordingly, the weight of an oil supply device 50 is reduced by making pump capacity smaller.

Abstract: PURPOSE: To establish a high operating efficiency of rotary members in an oil supply device for an integrated drive power generator of an airplane by applying the pressure water head counteracting to the pressure of a second pump to the tank outlet at the time of non-back face flying. CONSTITUTION: A tank 82 is installed over a deaeration device 26 so that the pressure water head counteracting to the pressure generated by the device 26 at its second outlet 84 acts on an outlet 93 at the time of non-back face flight of an integrated drive power generator. The refill oil flows to a force pump 32 via the deaeration device 26 to maintain full oil in the tank 82, and oil supply is made to rotary members while the max. pressure water head is maintained. The leakage from a scavenging pump 22 as vane pump and the force pump 32 is intruded to the tank 82, and a multi-port safety valve 35 shuts off the oil to the scavenging pump 22 so that oil is warmed quickly when the oil pressures from the pump 22 and a reverse rotation pump 24 are over the specified values and the temp. is below the scheduled level. Thus a high operating efficiency of rotary members is established.

Abstract: PURPOSE: To prevent too early damage and enlarged maintenance management by providing a deaerator for deaerating oil flowing from the rotating shaft center radially outward in each of ports, and providing a groove path for connecting the ports in the center of a support. CONSTITUTION: A lubricating device 40 is so constructed that each of parts 26 is provided with a deaerator 42 for deaerating oil flowing from the rotating shaft center radially outward so that only high quality deaerated oil surely reaches a first port 26 for lubricating a bearing of a planetary gear 14. Oil 48 is centrifugal-accelerated radially outward together with an oil air mixture 49 flowing through an oil path 50. The oil air mixture 49 flows axially along the center hole of the support 21 to lubricate a spline connecting part. Thus, protection from excessive abrasion and too early damage can be enabled.

Abstract: PURPOSE: To obtain a very compact structure and desired functions by disposing anti-swirling vane means having integrally formed valve seat means and valve means engagable with the valve seat means in an inlet member. CONSTITUTION: Anti-swirl vane means 30 is arranged in an inlet housing 12 adjacent an impeller means 16 to straighten a flow of fluid to the impeller means 16 and to prevent swirling of the fluid by the impeller means 16. Valve means 40 are provided in the inlet housing 12 engageable with valve seat means 32, 36, 38 for closing the inlet means 12 to allow removal of the impeller means 16. As a consequence, a very compact structure and desired functions can be attained.

Abstract: PURPOSE: To control a flow precisely and accurately without necessitating a flowmeter by adjusting a metering valve during a time interval so that fluid follows a flow control accurately under normal pressure and temperature conditions. CONSTITUTION: A metering valve 16 is opened from an initially closed position to a selective position where a pressure drop across a fixed orifice 38 is achieved, the pressure drop is detected by a sensor 39, and a signal occurred on a lead wire 40 is applied to a controller 60. At the same time, the position of the valve 16 is recorded by a signal on a lead wire 56 from a resolver 54, and one set point is provided to it. Next a valve 34 is closed, a valve 36 is opened, and the valve 16 is kept open until it is indicated on a sensor 42 that a flow passing the other fixed orifice is equal to that obtained when an orifice 41 is adjusted. A reading on a line 56 indicating the position of the valve 16 provides a second set point. Then the reading is continued on a plurality of fixed orifices until a relation between an actual flow rate and a resolver reading can be obtained so as to provide information corresponding to one adjustment curve.

CONSTITUTION: A spool 17 is movably placed within the casing 11 of a priority valve 10, is pushed leftward by a compression spring 18, and is provided with an axial passageway 101 and radial passageways 103-106 and a balancing groove 102 averaging pressures around the spool 17. Therefore, the quality of oil in an oil sump 60 can be controlled effectively and prioritization can be effected in sequence according to the pressure of oil from a deaerator 20, which is considered to be the amount of oil in an entire system.
