Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a valve which supplies a plurality of output flows containing at least one fixed output flow without requiring the big change of the inlet duct dimension of a current nitrogen generation system. SOLUTION: The nitrogen generation system (NGS) 10 has an inlet air valve 12, a heat exchanger 14, a motor 16, a first compressor 18 and a second compressor 20. The valve 12 is attached to an inlet header of the heat exchanger 14 and has a valve case 30, a baffle 32, a control valve disc 34, an actuator 36 and a shaft 38. The valve 12 has the inlet parts 44, 46 which is constituted so that it is connected with the source of the fluid and the case 30 which is communicated with the inlet parts 44, 46. The case 30 demarcates a channel V to receive the adjustment and an adjacent channel B next to the channel V to receive the adjustment. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that a harmful influence is caused on the sealing performance of a valve disk if an electric interruption/switch is operated before a valve disk contacts a surface seal stopper, while a valve is closed. SOLUTION: An valve assembly 10 is equipped with a flow control valve including a valve stem 20, an electric actuator 14 equipped with an electric actuator output shaft 34, and a torsional spring which connects a valve stem 20 and an actuator output shaft 34. The valve stem 20 is connected with a valve disk 18, and can be turned to selectively position the valve disk 18. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shaft assembly having an improved connection between metallic and ceramic members. SOLUTION: The shaft assembly includes a metallic shaft 14 and a ceramic shaft 12. In a disclosed example, the ceramic shaft 12 has a generally conical portion 20 near one end 22. The metallic shaft 14 has a generally conical recess 30 that at least partially receives the generally conical portion 20 of the ceramic shaft 12. The recess 30 has a first portion 32 that has an inner surface that is received directly against a corresponding outer surface of the generally conical portion 20 of the ceramic shaft 12 and a second portion 40 that is radially spaced from a corresponding section 42 of the ceramic shaft 12 and provides a controlled gap within which a braze alloy 44 is maintained. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simplify design by cooling a cooling air heat exchanger of an air-conditioning system in an aircraft and a heat exchanger cooling a coolant for power electronics by a simple cooling air ram. SOLUTION: This aircraft air-conditioning system 20 has the cooling air ram, and this ram has an inlet 23, an outlet 24 and a fan 22, and also has a plurality of air heat exchangers and liquid sink heat exchangers 40 in the cooling air ram. Air sucked by the fan 22 cools the plurality of these heat exchangers. All the necessities for dividing a ram circuit are eliminated by using arrangement of incorporating the liquid sink heat exchangers 40 into the cooling air ram together with the plurality of air heat exchangers. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wash flow filter of which length does not need to be extended to maintain a desired fluid velocity and the filtration level. SOLUTION: A fuel filter assembly 12 comprises a plurality of tubes 24 in the wash flow/barrier flow filter 14. The filter is so designed that can be used alternately in a normal wash flow mode and a periodical barrier mode. A tube is manufactured of a mesh material or a screen material. In the wash flow mode, some fluid radially flows out through the side wall of the tube as the flow passes through the filter. The side wall filtrates particles from the fluid, and the particles captured by the side wall flow out from the second end of the tube. In the barrier mode, the wash flow is interrupted, and all submerged foreign matters are collected onto a screen. The clogging of the screen is advanced as time is elapsed, and a pressure drop across the screen is increased. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reliable and simple surge protection system when a surge control valve fails. SOLUTION: A valve assembly includes a nitrogen enriched airflow control valve, a first stage surge control valve and a second stage surge control valve respectively arranged in a passage downstream of an air separation module, and in first and second surge control passages. The valves are in a ganged relationship or connected to one another such they move with one another in response to an input from a common actuator. The surge control valves open as the nitrogen enriched airflow control valve is moved to provide a smaller area. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system reconfigurable so as to adapt to various signal formats without requiring the change or redundant design of hardware. SOLUTION: This reconfigurable interface processes a specific device through software rather than hardware. The reconfigurable interface samples an output from at least one device and converts it to a digital signal. The digital signal can then be processed in any desired manner, such as to extract intelligence or condition the signal. The conversion and the processing are controlled by data in a configuration table, which can simply be modified or reconfigured to accommodate to different systems and devices. The same reconfigurable interface can be used for any type of device and the devices do not require customized hardware interfaces to communicate with a signal processor. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect an open and/or short-circuiting fault(s) in a sensor input. SOLUTION: This fault detecting circuit 102 includes an electric current source 112 for feeding a nominal bias current through a sensor 104. The bias current is driven by an off-set voltage V os , flows along a closed loop formed by the sensor 104, and is maintained at a level predetermined by the bias current. When an open or short-circuiting condition is generated in the sensor input, the off-set voltage V os is increased to keep the bias current level. When the off-set voltage V os is increased over a selected tripping threshold value, a fault signal is output to a processor to notify the generation of the fault to the processor or another monitor circuit.
