PURPOSE: A composition for antioxidant or whitening effect containing 21-O-angeloyltheasapogenol E3 derived from green tea seed is provided to have an antioxidative effect by inhibition of DPPH and ROS production and an excellent whitening effect due to melanogenesis inhibition and an improvement of pigmentation by ultraviolet rays. CONSTITUTION: A composition for antioxidative skin external application contains 21-O-angeloyltheasapogenol E3 represented by the chemical formula 1 as an active ingredient. Per total weight of the composition, 0.0001-10 weight% of the 21-O-angeloyltheasapogenol E3 is contained. The 21-O-angeloyltheasapogenol E3 is derived from green tea seed. The 21-O-angeloyltheasapogenol E3 is obtained by degrading green tea seed extract using acid, base, enzymes, or microorganism producing the above enzyme.

The mixture extract contains 40-60 wt% of the Lycium chinense Miller extract and 40-60 wt% of the Pinus densiflora Siebold et Zuccarini extract. The composition activates a retinoic acid receptor. The composition also prevents wrinkles by suppressing collagenase expression.
