Abstract: A digital image display method of a portable terminal and a device are provided to display simultaneously plural thumbnail images on a standby screen of the terminal, thereby forming the standby screen as a kind of a picture gallery and simply expanding the thumbnail images on the standby screen by using a touch screen method. Thumbnail images are displayed on a screen display of a portable terminal(100-130). The thumbnail images are dragged in a touch screen way so that the dragged thumbmail images are moved or clicked for expansion(140-160). The expanded images are clicked again for reducing the size of the clicked images before the images are expanded(180-200). If thumbnail images are color images, the images are converted into black and white images and displayed on a standby screen.
