    Abstract: PURPOSE: A digital broadcasting transmitter and a stream processing method thereof are provided to insert a stuff byte into a MPEG-2 transport stream packet and replace the inserted stuff byte with known data. CONSTITUTION: An RS(Reed-Solomon) encoder(630) encodes a stream including known data. An interleaver(640) interleaves the encoded stream. A trellis encoder(650) performs trellis encoding of the interleaved stream. The trellis encoder resets internal memories in an initialization byte part included within the stream.
